The Gold Tiger sold on March 20 2017. A high for that date. A very nice Sherman that you won, congratulations. Thanks for posting the photo.

Given the number of Honor Bound Armor pieces showing up on eBay, I guess a number of collectors are moving on to the next generation pieces with greater detail and accuracy.

If you notice, the new Honour Bound Gold Sherman has a full kit of the extra supplies, etc., Honour Bound made available to customize its Gold Edition Shermans. After Honour Bound stopped producing the Gold Edition Edition vehicles, they sold the extra kit (sandbags for the front of the tank, supplies to place on the rear deck, blanket rolls, knapsacks, extra bogie wheels, buckets, etc.), as well as the Foliage Camouflage (which consisted of netting to attach to the Shermans, and the foliage to put into the netting) through our hosts here at Treefrog. I bought several of the boxes of extra kit, and one of the foliage camouflage sets. Ken Osen was kind enough to apply the foliage camouflage to the rear tank for me. I pulled out a box of the extra kit when the new Gold Edition Sherman arrived, and set it up as well.

Came up just short on the last Sturmtiger from Ana Donzino's collection. I went all the way up to $2,000, but it sold for $2052.99!{eek3}

I have to accept I'm somewhat ignorant of the place in people's affections these, admittedly very nice, tanks have. But I'm struggling to understand how they are worth $2,000 USD and more.

Is it just sentimentality or the regret for the lost opportunity at the time?

They are, in my opinion, the finest tanks ever produced in this hobby, and were made in extremely limited quantities (I don't think more then 10 of these Sturmtigers were made in total). At the time of production they were $450 plus shipping and add one like crew, kit and battle damage. The end of all production and last chance to order a Gold Edition tank were given on only 5 days notice. I ordered one Gold Edition model, but felt I couldn't spend the additional money for a second in that 5 day period, then unsuccessfully tried to order one of these Sturmtigers a day or two past the deadline. That is why I was willing to bid first $1,200, then $1,250 and finally $2,000 to try to obtain this model, the only Honour Bound vehicle I don't have at least one version of. Other people also thought these tanks were valuable, as on the first two auctions, there were 6-7 bidders who went over the $600 starting bid. The Sturmtigers were all won by the same bidder, who obviously was willing to bid as much as it took, paying more than $4,500 for the 3 Sturmtigers and over $1,000 more for a Gold Edition Tiger. I only bid as much as I did because this was my last chance to obtain one of these incredibly rare masterpieces, which have now all disappeared into private collections from which it is unlikely they will emerge any time soon.

With all due respect and solely in my opinion, this isn't worth $2,000. To pay that kind of money is madness.

Objectively I completely agree with you, anything north of $1,000 is insane. Subjectivity I am a completist and this is a model I needed to complete my Honour Bound vehicle collection, so I was willing to bid an insane amount for it. I'm sure we've all paid a crazy premium for something in this hobby.

A Sturm Tiger posted on eBay by Rev Pete just sold for over $2000.00 A Gold Sherman is also posted as well as a Jagdpanther. I wonder what happened to the crew figures for these Panzers?

The ultimate value of any Art Objects is determined by the buyer. The three rules of collecting are quality, condition and rarity. The Honor Bound Panzers qualify as desirable in the areas of quality and rarity IMO. Today is the era of mass production; thus craftsmanship and hand made and custom crafted objects are highly valued. I have usually realized a return on investment of 3X on Art Objects that meet the criteria; especially Arms and Armor.
