Yes, it was a great game, and I don't even like hockey. Very exciting, a bit of a disappointment that the Americans didn't win, after pulling it out in regulation play and forcing overtime, but that's the nature of sudden death. I think they did much better than the oddsmakers gave them before the game.
As I said, I'm not a hockey fan, but those fans among you can tell me if this observation is correct: The Canadian team seemed to be much better at checking than the Americans, from what I saw. When they got the puck and charged down the ice at the American goal, they seemed to be able to check the men covering them and break away, much more easily than the Americans did when they had the puck.
The other thing that I noticed was that the Canadian team seemed to have more taller players than the American team. I don't think that had anything to do with the outcome, but it looked like more of the Canadian players were a good head taller than their American opponents. The awards ceremony seemed to confirm that, as the official went down the lines and handed out the medals.
And Miller and Luongo both were tops at goalie, some really great work there, I thought.
Prost!
