Great items from ats. (1 Viewer)

Ah Mr. Dave,I can't decide whether you're more a saint or scoundrel for sharing this...I've admired ATS boats previously but felt I could resist unless they strayed into my focus. This set looks superb,so Thank you...I guess:D

Ahhh, you are most welcome kind sir.....

It is about $500 plus shipping. Very , very nice like all ATS figures. I need to go back to the site and spend some time. there is a bountiful array of figures from many different eras. These guys are very good.......................

That is a pretty good price considering this set includes 20 figures and the boat (and I'll bet this would look really nice next to some Tommy Atkins FIW figures too, eh OB?).

With the more favorable USD to GBP these days, the ATS figures are actually priced pretty good right now. Those excellent looking mounted Crimean War figures are $59.00 for example. The Grenadier Guards roll call after Inkerman foot figures are $12.50. There is a 15% additional charge for US orders, however.

I love looking through this catalog, since as you say, there is a huge inventory of stuff to look at.

:D Indubitably,MD,I'm envisioning this surrounded by TA canoes (which I keep accumulating-not so much from any specific need as that I find them irresistible)-as long as I'm daydreaming-chasing TA canoes on the Ohio,or perhaps running a gauntlet of TA canoes in relief of Fort Pitt,OR supposing that Indian fell overboard, this boat would be right in place on Loch Linnhe 15 years earlier :) oh boy!

All right, well just promise you will post some pictures of it once it arrives then.

;)

ATS has some great figures. They are very similar to LL. I enjoyed seeing some of their figures at the Chicago show.
I wish they would make some Zulu sets.

I have recently added some napoleonic sets to my collection of trophy, little legion and frontline that i use for my diorama. The figures are beautifuly done. I have some imperial guard fifes and drums for my advance column and they go great. The foot figures tend to be taller and skinnier than the trophy figures. Regular french line units tend to be to big when i mix them in. The cavalry i have recieved are excellent. They are a liitle larger than trophy but still blend in well. I have some artillery i have won that are being shipped now and i am anxiously waiting to see how they work with the others. I have added some soldiers of the world artillery that work and look great with trophy. I will say this ats has a lot of variety. Keep up the good work nik.

Hi i'd like to buy the soldiers ..the Crimea Range is wonderful, with such personalities as Jack Vahey or Govone and Landriani..but what is better ?Gloss or Matt? What would be your choice?

They are sculpted by the same artist as LL ( Alan Caton) who is a brilliant artist he sculps for lots of companies, Tradition,Asset, LL, Yeomanry to name but a few, Regards John

If they will eliminate the base if you ask them - and the figures stand up correctly and do not tip -- then why do they have bases at all? Are the figures a little unsteady?

Dick

I think that without the bases alot of the horses due to their action positions will fall over

John,

I thought that too, but that you confirming that. I think his soldiers are excellent and have great detail for glossy figures.
Brian

I'd like to focus on the reproduction of the "Roll Call" by Lady Butler, the roll call after Inkerman..as with K&C Crimea Thin Red Line range the portrait is reproduced to the last detail but this time the focus is on the Grenadier Guards if i'm not mistaken..at 8.50£ the figures are really a bargain..

If you have any Little Legion figures, I am pretty confident you will like these too. I used to have a grouping of Napoleonic Highlanders that included some ATS mixed with LL and they worked great together. I am waiting for some goodies to arrive from both of these fellows at the moment....some Nap infantry and cavalry, and one of the mounted Light Bde. figures for good measure. Feeling glossy these days. Plus these guys (Nik at ATS and Mike at LL) go out of their way to get you what you want.

BTW, if you check out ATS website under sale items, or napoleonic sets (sorry can't remember which), you can get almost the entire Inkerman set you mentioned for a bit of a bargain, so check it out.

Cheers,
MD

Completely understand you there. I'll post some photos of my new things when they arrive.

Thanks Mister Dave i'm really curious about some of the cavalry pieces..i hope some of the less known participants of the charge will be reproduced also in the Crimea range by K&C , i think to "Butcher"Jack and the Italian officers..

Okay, well here is my first sample from ATS' Light Brigade line up, and I've more on the way. This is an NCO from the 17th Lancers. I really like the personality of ATS figures, and this one is no exception. I've some other items just recently arrived but will save them for future postings once some re-inforcements arrive. :)

Regards,
MD

These look quite interesting but the site was dead slow for me. Someone said they can be done in matt; are their pictures of that and what size are they? Are they about Britains size?

Yes, the proprietor will paint matte or glossy finishes and finish bases to your liking as well. Apparently he will in some cases sell castings if you wanted to commision painting elsewhere.

Size wise these are pretty close to the smaller current Gloss Britians figures or Little legion. Also similar in size to All the Queens Men figures if you've seen any of those before. ATS site descibes these as "large 54MM figures" or something like that.

Hope that helps.

It does Dave; so they would be smaller than the Britains matt Napoleonics I take it?
