Mark, I think General Custer (fellow forum member, of course, not the long deceased original article ) is from France and has posted a lot of these from his personal collection. I cannot remember where those threads were located. He can probably give you the full scoop on these. Hope that helps.

Mark,

They are matt and 1/30 scale. Blend very nicely with K&C (or at least the couple that I've got do!). Paint finish is good, I would put it better than most Del Prado and getting close to K&C. Faces have a bit of a 'Frontline' style to them IMO.

Yes, aren't Hachette figures also sold as piecework, I believe the term is, by subscription, like Del Prado? Or were the associated with some magazine? I don't recall directly.

I think we discussed their origin before, too, so I apologize for repeating the question, but aren't some of their figures, if not all, sculpted in China, maybe by K&C or one of the other makers?

Prost!

A few years ago I collected the Hachette FFL figures. According to Andy, K&C did the first 30 figures after that another company did them.
I have the first 30 and they are pretty nice, not quite K&C quality, but good.

Thanks, Gary!

That makes me think, too, that there was a general consensus about Hacette figures that, just as with del Prado, many of us like the castings, but not so much the paint jobs, and that they represent reasonably-priced addition or background figures. They can be found reasonably cheap on eBay and elsewhere, so it's easier to feel good about kitbashing one into something else.

Prosit!

I LOVE the HACHETTE Guys !

These are wonderful figures for NAPOLEONIC Collectors ! There is a great series of FRENCH GENERALS - all are really nice.

And these figures are affordable even ordering them from Europe.

He are a few pics of my HACHETTE Figures. :D

Thanks for those pics, Ron, those figures are actually well-done. The sculpting has some good detail and the paint job is pretty good, too.

Prost!

I love those guys - I had one of the sellers on ebay send me a list of the 100 HACHETTE Napoleonic French Generals they make - great list.

Anyone else interested - I will be glad to share ! :)

It helps keeping track of what you have .... I have bought now around 30 of those guys with plans for more !! - I am working on a display with all the general and Napoleon at his Command Tent planning the next OFFENSIVE ! :D

Great value for the price and helps with creating an Officer's Corps while we await production of the same with K&C !

Lots of fun.

Ron

PS - Sorry about MAX ! He keeps popping up - I think he wants to get in on the action !

Great figures Custer, especially like the one second from left, picture with four figures.

Those are pretty neat. The officer with his foot on the box is very similar to one of the K & C FoB sets.

Didn't K&C only do the first 30 French Marshalls too? I thought I remember them saying that, bascially, the first 30 of that series are K&C, the next 70 plus are not.
