Thanks for all your kind wishes, I really appreciate that
I'm currently in the south west (Australia) town of Albany attending the ANZAC Centenary Commemoration of the leaving of the fleet of ships carrying the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps to Egypt and onto Gallipoli at the start of WW1.
38 Convoy ships and attached warships headed off from here a century ago with the soldiers from down under of which half of them never to return, or come back wounded and affected by the horrors of this terrible war.
Today marching down the main street were serving members of the defence forces of Australia, New Zealand and Japan (who in 1914 supplied a defending warship and many veterans who all recieved a great ovation from teh crowds lining the streets.
Following the march there was a commemorative service with our Governor General, Prime Ministers from Australia and New Zealand and foreign dignitaries assembled at the ANZAC Peace Park on Princess Royal Harbour.
Lest we froget.
Now it's time to relax with cooling ale (Stella Artois to join with our Belgian allies) and get ready for a family BBQ this evening.
Happy Bday John,
Whish you all the best and that you are having a great time with the family......
All the best from this end of the Globe:salute::
