Louis,
Happy Birthday old man....I remember forty.....wait... no I don't!?!?
I'm sure it was good.
Thanks for being one of the central figures of the treefrog site with your participation, knowledge about our favorite hobby and freindly attitude to all.
So have some drinks and go to bed early, save your strength, you'll need it!
ray:);)

Gentleman, I just returned from my surprise birthday party at Lawrence Lo's restaurant, where Larry, Brad Lewin and Mark Hoffman were all present and accounted for from among the collecting community. It was amazing, and thanks to all of you who were at the party or here on the forum for the kind birthday wishes!

Louis,

Thank you to Meredith for inviting us. It was a great time and great fun to meet some of your family and friends and also to find out you lived in Staten Island. Never knew that. Food was delicious as usual, particularly Peking Duck, which is always superb.

Louis, I can confirm the adage that life really does begin at 40 as you seem to get an extra burst of energy. The trouble is that extra energy only lasts about five years, afterwhich it's all down hill. So make the most of it ;) :D

So what you're telling me is that just when my kids are turning 7 and 5, my batteries are going to go dead, huh? Great, just great!

Och, don't listen to them.
I'll be 52 this year (going on 12) and I don't think I've slowed down yet. Well, come to think of it, I don't frequent the rather dodgy dives and dens that I did, say, 10 years ago any more - mainly cos I can't stand the music.....EG "I'm a Barbie Girl, in a Barbie World" or THUMP, THUMP, THUMP....;);):D:D. But having said that, a pretty barmaid will usually draw me in no matter what kind of vibes they're playing - like a moth to a flame.:eek: OMG hope Missus Heid never reads this......

Cheers

Yeah, but Heid, based on your post on the other thread you have been toughened by the horrors of 3rd, 4th & 5th world travel and food to somebody approaching the stamina of Allan Quatermain . . . I jockey a desk!

Yeah, well, I'm a wee bit embarrassed by that post on the other thread cos on rereading it, it didn't quite come out the way I meant. It sounds like one big moan and probably comes across as a wee bit boastful as well, which I most certainly didn't intend. What I was trying to say was I couldn't live any other way nowadays and I'm completely disorientated when I go to the UK. Like, I'm jumping into taxi drivers laps cos I'm so used to the steering column being on the other side of the car, and the atrocious service in shops and restaurants is so deplorable, and so on.
BTW, I've also piloted a desk in my profession during the past and from what I'm hearing on the rumour-mill, it won't be too long before I'm asked to do so again. But it certainly won't be in a Western country.....;);). It'll be executive decision time for me yet again I suppose.

And also BTW, have you noticed that spellcheck suggests that HEID be replaced by HEIDI....???:eek::eek::eek:

Cheers

Louis,

Sorry I'm late to the party but I hope you had a GREAT 40th Birthday!

All my best,
Brian

It's not so bad, afterall I did add a wink and a big grin to my comment :)

I did nearly four years uni study during my mid forties which didn't help as it meant a lot of time at the pc which caused me to put on more weight than was desirable. Since then I have been working in an outdoor position that has kept me more active, even the 20 year olds at work are struggling to keep up with me. Younger people these days just don't seem to have the work ethic of us seniors ;) :D
