I have a whole new respect for people (actually artists really) that can sculpt little tiny 54-60mm figures and faces...
this was the hardest project I have ever attempted...not like a fort...a castle...or a building...which I have made a lot of...because all of those were made however I wanted them to look...but to try and make something that looks like what most people think it should look like...that's a lot harder...so kudos to all the great sculptors that whittle out these tiny figures so expertly for us to buy...I could never do it...
my first attempt with this looked like a Trojan Duck...I was gonna discard the project...but I whittled on that til it looked like a Trojan Swan...once the legs were attached...it started to look like a horse...a little bit...and after weeks of playing with this thing...it's about the best I can do...and I hope it's recognizable to most people...
I'm happy with it and will never do another one...just eating all the popsicles alone was a monumental feat...^&grin...
this thing is monstrous...a very sturdy strong build...as I overbuild almost everything I do...^&grin...
a solid foam interior with almost 600 popsicles...each one individually roughed up on the grinder...each one etched with a wood grain finish...and meticulously sized and glued to fit in place...weighing in at over 6 pounds...18"s tall...17"s long...I added a ladder to feed up to the simulated hatch on the belly of the horse and built a platform with 7 timbers underneath so the Trojans could move this wooden tribute into the city of Troy...
as the myth goes...the Greeks built this monument to the Trojans out of wrecked and discarded ships after a 10 year siege...so I wanted the wood to look weathered...
I will lay it down and add a few more pictures of the back and underside later...
I'm not a very good sculptor...so hats off...kudos and a new found respect to the guys that create these wonderful toys we collect...
