I had heard that there were some planes released by K&C. I've never seen any availbale. Have they ever been released? How rare are they? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes and no. With a little patience, luck and networking, you will eventually find one. Though I hope you understand that one will never be enough:p:eek::D

Tell me about it! I've collecting diecast for a little over a year now and was extremely impressed with Corgi's WW1 line of planes. I recently purchased my first WW1 K&C Mark IV tank and was hooked. I plan on expanding my collection with some more WW1 K&C pieces and would definately love to add some more warbirds in the 1/30 scale to go along with my tank!

Hi Guys,

Just got back to HK at 0600 hours this morning (Friday) from my U.S. visit.

Re the above question…Yes, K&C did produce a whole “flying circus” of hand-made wooden WW1 aircraft a few years back…Fokker Tri-Planes...Fokker D VII’s…Albatrosses…SE 5’s…Spads…and quite a few more besides.

Will we do them again?
You bet we will!!! Actually we’ve been hard at work for many months now on a less expensive brand-new “flying circus” which will be revealed in the not-too-distant future…After all, don’t want JJD to feel too lonely flying around those First World War skies all by himself.

Pip, pip and tally ho chaps!

A bunch of colourful 'Flying circus' aircraft would be great. Pity the Red Baron has just been done would have liked to see a modern K&C version

Hi Andy,

Well if you are going to jump on the WW1 aircraft wagon again, please start with 1914/15 aircraft - no one does these and I think they are just as interesting. And please, no more red DR1s - there are too many made, in every scale, and there are so many other options out there.

I guess we should hear about your new Spanish Civil War range soon? You would not want JJD to be lonely in Spain would you? :)

Now that Andy has mentioned WWI aircraft I can reveal he did mention the subject of WWI aircraft during the Brisbane dinner in June. However he did ask Howard to not mention it in his write up of the talk and question and answers.

I can confirm there was no mention of the Spanish Civil War !
Regards
Brett

Well, I guess my days of collecting figures and tanks is just about over. Once JJD and KC get the WW1 aircraft into full swing they will be the only thing that I will be buying (or can afford). I am greatly looking forward to the many different aircraft and color schemes that will be available. I can see I will need to start investing in the various Lotto games if I am to build my own aerodrome for Richthofen's Flying Circus. Neiuports, SE's, and Spads, oh my! I couldn't be happier as I will finally be hearing the wind in the wires. -- Al

This is great news!:cool: I have three of the original K&C wood WWI warbirds, the Red Baron's Fokker DR1, a Sopwith Pup and Eddie Rickenbacker's Spad, along with K&C's old glossy set of WWI flying Aces (Mannoack, McCudden, Immelman and Von Rictoven). As good as the new polystone aircraft are (my favorite is the new desert ME109, but I have them all, and they are all terrific), I can't wait to see WWI aircraft and (dare I hope) figures of flying aces.;)

Here are some photos of Louis' WW I K & C planes (may not be all of them) that I took a few years back.

Very nice collection of WW1 aircraft. The figures are really nice. Wish I had a set of them. Thanks for posting the pictures, Brad. The aircraft look much nicer than the publicity photos I have seen. -- Al

Must be the least best kept secret in the toy world. I think many knew the planes were coming it was just when and, that is still awaited. Though would expect one maybe this year.

This is a very exciting new development, I can hardly wait! :D With all due respect to the diehards out there I think we need both the "Snoopy Sopwith Camels" and Red Baron type warbirds to start a collection and then add to it with the more obscure pieces. IMO these WWI warbirds are the most interesting, exciting, and colourful pieces to collect from that historical period. Thanks K&C.

Good points, CFM. One could hardly have a WW1 aviation collection without the 2 most iconic aircraft of the war. Meaning, of course, Brown's red nosed Camel and Richthofen's all red Fokker Triplane, #425/17. These aircraft are always being done but with good reason. These 2 craft ARE WW1 airwar to most people. We fans of the air war can always build around them. -- Al

What is also interesting with this range is the fact that there will be WWI vehicles and crew to go with them and the ability to create a great WWI airfield dio.
Mitch

I'm equally excited to hear about the release of the new WWI planes. Andy's WWI figure that he gave out at the dinner in Chicago, which was an amazing little figure, ignited an interest in WWI for me.
