I have recently acquired an HB figure set, the Winter German chow line. I also have 2 HB Panther tanks which are awesome. The HB figures though look a little pale compared to KC. KC figures have more color in the figures faces and the uniforms are more vibrant and rich in color too. IF you compare a KC figure to an HB figure, the HB figure almost looks dead almost, very little face color. KC faces have that peachy, alive look, each figure has its own personality even! I just prefer the KC figures! Now the tanks, that is a different story, HB's tanks are superb!!! Great detail and beautiful paint schemes. KC tanks are looking just as good with the recent Stugs and with the upcoming Tiger!! I think Andy has really stepped it up in the armor department and is providing more detail and still at a lower price than HB tanks. I am looking forward to more tanks from KC and I will still try to get some of HB's retired tanks too, but when it comes to figures, KC all the way!!

I have thought for a long time now that HB make superb Tanks but their figures are not as good as K&C.I think competion in vehicles is getting stronger all the time, but for me K&C still lead in figures.I think HB have made great strides in their armour and it really shows. But with this new Tiger i think Andy may have upped the bar again:)

Yup.:)

I Think the sculpting is on par for both as well as the uniform painting, the facial/body painting is the difference.

The approach to painting and sculpting of the figures is completely different so I'm not sure you can say one is better or not. It's a personal preference.

I recently got HB's superb winter cook wagon and the design, sculpting and painting on the figure, his dog and the horses easily equals anything K&C has ever done... that said, perhaps the pale painting style on the face is especially appropriate in this case because it is depicting someone who is enduring very cold conditions, and it might not look as suitable in other situations. Just a thought.

Tim said the same thing about it being cold so there pale, but there so pale there probably going to die of hypothermia in 2 seconds.

I’ve never owned any HB figures but I’ve seen them around a lot and I really like their figure sculpts. I think they have a lot of promise. I would love to see there work in a few years because I’m shore it will only get better. As for the painting the figures it could use some work on the shading. But that wouldn’t stop me from buying anything. I’m just not to hip on any of their subjects. I wish they had more of a selection; I really do like their stuff.

I tend to think of HB as a producer of high-quality vehicles with the figures as accessories. KC makes many more stand alone figure sets - so quality is more important for them. You can always use the KC figures with the HB tanks and have the best of both.

I tend to think K&C has the edge on figures, Honour Bound a (narrowing) edge on vehicles. The competition between them I think keeps them both pushing the envelope of quality (although Andy always steadily improved his product, even before Honour Bound and Figarti began to compete for thw 1:30 scale WWII market) and we collectors reap the benefit. Figarti makes the best vehicles, although their figures still have a way to go (they have improved substantially over the last four years, and I expect them to continue to push the envelope as well). All and all I expect Andy, Anna and Rick to keep me well satisfied on my way to the poor house.

K & C are hard to beat figure wise and Honour Bound need to do some more work in their figure production. Patriot do some terrific Napoleonic figures, but apparently they are rather tall.

Btw, I should mention that I haven't seen any HB figures in person and I still feel that most of the official HB photos don't show their products to their best advantage :(

The bases on the Patriot Naps are thicker than the bases on the K&C figures. I think they are a little bit bulkier as well, but you can still mix the two together IMO.
Can't comment on the HB figures cos I don't have any.

Harry, thanks for the pics and it looks like the Patriot stuff goes well with K & C.

Nice Pics H,they certainly do work well together.

I can't agree with you more Brad. I'm pleased to see HB gong there own way in sculpting and painting. I'm pleased to display them both together.

As Brad says its a personal thing.I think HB's Winter Panther looks great next to my K&C vehicles,am looking forward to seeing HB's individual Tank service.

You know it’s a lot like combat said we get to pick and choose from all of the lines and at the end of the day we are the real winners. We get the best-looking stuff from all of the companies.

Thanks for the photos - I have wondered if Patriot figures could go with K&C ?

Now I know :D

Thanks, Ron

Welcome Ron.
Patriot does look bigger than K&C cos of the thicker bases, but then again "Some men are bigger than others"....(Braveheart).

I think K&C figures are by far the best out there. I actually took the Patton from the sandbagged Sherman and Displayed him standing along side the Honour Bound Winter Sherman, which looks totally awesome. I replaced Patton with Bradley on the limited sanbagged Sherman. I got the idea for the Patton display from the cover of a book "Patton's Third Army At War", by George Forty. He is standing in his winter bomber type jacket along side a snow covered M4A1 Sherman in Bastogne.
