Hi,
I am on a continual search for the first 4 WBritain event figures. I just made a call to and English man, who quoted a price of 150 pounds for the drummer and fifer, and 100 pounds for the 54th private. What do people think? I would be ever so appreciative if I was able to call him back today. I just thought that 50 pounds a figure was about the highest one could pay for a modern glossy figure^&confuse.
Thanks,
Sandor:salute::

As you know, Sandor, this is not my area. Seems a bit high to me. But we are probably in uncharted territiory here - I know you research your purchases pretty carefully - so if you can't find any comparables, then you're on your own. Supply and demand, unique items ... and all that!

Decide if you really want this or just kinda want it. No harm to offer L50 each and see what happens. If he says no; then walk away for a bit - but leave the door open. (You can always come back.) He can't be beating buyers away from his door! (Can't imagine there's much of a secondary market for these figures - but I don't really know.) If he REALLY wants to sell, you may be his best chance.

If you really "must" to have it, and he won't come down, and there's no others selling, then pay the price and be happy with your luck. In the end it's not about the money. I learned that from the "Greatest Collector" - Malcolm Forbes. No one enjoyed his money more than Malcolm. :cool:

Good luck.

Sandor...

A difficult question I usually say if it feels wrong then it is but, I have paid high prices for sets and felt ok about the price. No harm in offering less and see how it goes. Most I have ever paid for a single figure was £60

Thanks for the opinions, and I think I will check the price with a name that has been recommended to me by someone, and make an offer. I have paid $200 for one figure, but it was a connoisseur piece by WBritain, and it now goes for a bit more. These, however, are glossy, and not old. Normally, I tend to haggle a lot, but this guy is a very nice elderly Englishman, and I am just some 16 year old American kid^&grin, and I would hate to offer him what I would normally say-100 pounds for all. But 250 pounds for these figures is just too much. These figures are absolutely essential to my collection, and complete a mini-series which I have invested $400+ in.
Thanks,

I believe if the purchase price was still affordable to you the collector and the item
purchased brings satisfaction then YES it was worth it !!!! :smile2:

Hi Sandor,

Drop me a pm with the set numbers and titles and I will see what I can do for you. The prices you were given are high unless the figures in question are really limited in production numbers. Also if you are a member of the collectors club for WBritains you can always ask them to post a want add for the specific sets in their quarterly magazine The Standard. Members are allowed this as part of the membership fees. Drop me a note.

Dave
