Hello
They are K&C stamped on bottom, do you know their reference code? Are they hard to find?
Thanks

They're older figures. I will see if I can dig out the codes. They appear on eBay but at higher prices. They're not as popular as they used to be.

They're among the very first figures K&C ever produced over 30 years ago...Out of curiosity Brad, what do you base your comment about their popularity on..?

Now in fairness, I don't pretend to know how popular (or not) the said figures might or might not be but would be interested to know what guide you base your comment on..?

Thanks and best wishes, Andy.

Andy,

From what I see on eBay. Don't get me wrong, I love them but in days gone past the prices paid were high and now K & C gloss just don't draw the prices they used to obtain. I've been able to fill some holes in my collection this way so I'm not complaining too much; I purchased the Kamikaze pilot for a fraction of what it used to command, as an example.

I think today's collectors are not that interested in glossy figures and, in addition, are looking for better sculpted figures. For me, your gloss figures just have a certain charm.

I'd love to see you issue some gloss issues but I don't see that happening.

Brad

Thanks for the reply Brad...New people join the hobby all the time and I met some of them last weekend in San Antonio...And even more frequently back in Hong Kong!

While I heartily agree that the majority are more interested in today's production there are a few, surprisingly, who seek out some of our very early models similar to what our friend from Spain posted earlier.

Speaking personally, in recent years I have started collecting 'Parade' figures...Bands, Colour Parties, Marching etc., mostly from Britains but including a number of other makers also [K&C among them] and enjoy the color and splendor of the traditional toy soldier of years gone by. I certainly still enjoy the more contemporary toy soldier but there is something special about collecting and displaying Massed Pipes & Drums from many different regiments and hundreds of Guardsmen, Royal Marines and British Line Infantrymen marching across my Dining Room Table. For me there is real nostalgia....All of these hundreds of figures would and were impossible for me or my parents to have afforded back in my childhood days...Only now can I indulge myself.

Returning to the subject...Prices may be down at present in these uncertain times but I believe there will always be a market and demand for these older items going forward...So, whatever you pay...Enjoy it and...Have FUN!!!!

Andy,

It was thanks to your glossy figures that I become interested in glossy figures from other companies, principally Trophy. Although I don't collect bands from other companies I do have most of your bands, which I thoroughly enjoy. I think you've seen photos of my Bahamas and Black Watch bands.

Cheers,

Brad

Here's that Bahamas Band for those that haven't seen it.

The top figure on the left is from RM 1 Royal Marines Present Day. Top right is probably from RMDC Royal Marines Present Day Drum Corp. The photo is on the lower right is from the Highland Brigade (Seaforth Highlanders) One Drummer and Five Highlanders Marching.

I will check the other photo later as I need to go out.

The last one is from RMLI, the Royal Marine Light Infantry.

Many hanks Brad for posting pix of some of those old K&C bands...Apart from the RoyalMarine Drum and Bugle Band I don't have any in the K&C Collection!!!

Back in those 'Ancient Times' we sold everything just to keep afloat!

However, we have been looking back at some of these older sets with a view to designing and sculpting modern-day versions of a few of them ....The first release will be The Guidon Party (Colour Party) of my old HK unit...The Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers) of which I was the last British Adjutant before its disbandment in 1995, two years before Britain handed back Hong Kong to China.

In addition we are adding an 'Escort' of marching troopers to accompany the New Guidon Party. These were not available back when the original ones were released in the earl 1990's.

Best wishes and happy collecting! Andy.

I look forward to seeing those Andy.

I have always loved your old bands. In days gone by, Larry and I used to compete for those old bands on eBay, although he usually got the better of me! In fact, the Bahamas Band came from his collection.

Good for you Brad getting that Bahamas Police Band from Larry's collection...Now, I know it is in good hands!
Best wishes, Andy.

I have a Seaforth Highlanders band that I bought from Andy when he was just getting his business started. I added a color party to the set as well. Its still one of my favorites.

Andy, you have always presented a wide variety of TS to the crowds. I love the older classics as you know!:)
