Well here "I" go I guess into the world of First Legion. I've been viewing from afar for some time with great interest, but have never taken the plunge mainly due to the higher costs compared to the others I usually collect. But as I've started trying to make smaller dioramas, the focus on detail and realism to me has taken priority. I think a scene with one to five figures or so is plenty to tell some type of story and also where you can really appreciate the detail of the figure or figures if it's not too crowded. But that's just me I guess. Large displays can be impressive no doubt, but my preference still is more for the smaller dio, and this fits in perfectly with First Legion IMO. They are producing highly detailed and realistic looking figures, and the Stalingrad line has definitely caught my attention.

I just got my first figure in and it's the Stalingrad 036 figure. I have several 1/32 vehicles I wanted to try him on and see what he looked like. Here he is climbing onto some 21st C. trucks and a FOV Panzer IV F1. Actually the first FL piece I bought was the Russian house in the background (turned around for two different looks and I forgot to put the porch roof up on one side).

I have to say that First Legion are great with FOV tanks and your photo's prove it. I too like the Stalingrad figures and I am starting to look at the civil war guy's. Simmo.{sm3}

Very nice, I agree with you about the small dio idea and I do like FL detail but they just don't so far make any subject I like eg; Great War Brits and WW2 Brits and I am sure they will never make any Aussies, but I live in hope.
Wayne.

Works well with the vehicles Duke, well done. I have also ventured into the FL range with a couple of AFV's. I'll post some pic's of them soon.

Tom

Very nice pictures and the figures work really well with the AFV's you have on show. Nice scenes also
Mitch

I really like the last two shots with deep shadow (high contrast). Excellent!

I just purchased my first 3 FL figures and I feel they are the first of a new collection...Ron {sm2}

Duke,
A fine choice and outstanding dio.....looks very realistic. Thanks for sharing the pics. Congrats on your new acquisition and on taking the FL plunge. I collect their Romans and they are really nice. I'll be adding little by little. Great figures!

Thanks Simmo. I may look into the AWI and AK lines as well as Stalingrad.

WW2 Brits and US figures for DDay would be great. Maybe FL will venture into other theaters of WW2 in the future.

Thanks Tom. Look forward to seeing your pics.

Thanks Mitch. FL figures appear to be truly 1/30 as opposed to 1/28 or so with some of the other manufacturers, making them look ok with 1/32 vehicles.

Thanks Frank, coming from a photography expert (I'm seen lots of your great photos!) that's much appreciated.

I'm with you Ron. I will be purchasing more FL figures in the near future.

Thanks Joe. I don't collect Romans, but I have seen the FL Romans and they look great.

Duke, A very nice set-up all around, the buildings/vehicle/ and of course some First Legion soldiers to top it off!!! you will not be disappointed with any of the WWII line (IMHO) of course, hope to see ya post some future sets as well...Sammy

Hi,
Great pics, Very realistic ! I agree with you I prefer smaller displays ( 1 vehicle, 4 or 5 figures) in order to appreciate accuracy details of the figures.
Best
Xavier.

Same situation here, I'm taking a deep breath and loading a shopping cart in April with a batch of FL WWII figures. I only wish I could grab the winter panzer III at the same time, but I've got to pace myself-lol.
Lord help me, this could be trouble.

Hi Mike ,
I don't own the Winter version of the Panzerkampfwagen III but I do own the regular one and must say I'm very pleased with it , its just beautifully done . I had to choose which way to go...... unfortunately I just can't own em all , and there is just something Ominous about soldiers in winter gear . The winter version looks tremendous though, I'm sure you'll be well pleased and it and it will display well . Regards Gebhard

I'm not too familiar with First Legion either. How does their scale measure up? Are they true 1/30 scale? They seem to match up well with the 1/32 items in the pics.

My opinion is that First Legion is 1/30 scale. I agree that they do match up well with 1/32 FOV and 21st Century AFV's if just a tiny bit large in scale for them. I did some measuring with a First Legion figure and some from other company's figures in a different thread in the General Discussion part of the forum if you are interested. http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?36220-My-figure-scale-experiment-result
