Today we pause and remember all those involved in the greatest seaborne invasion in history and the sacrifice of those who lost their lives on the beaches, in the towns and flooded fields of Normandy so that we may live free from the sickening racism of the loathsome regime that had infected Europe. To every man and woman involved in the planning, preparing and execution of Overlord from whatever country you came from, you have my everlasting respect and gratitude.

My respects to everyone from all sides that fought on this ''day of days''

I echo Rob's sentiment, and would only add we better appreciate them now, while there are a few left. D-day was 69 years ago. If you figure the youngest men there were perhaps 17, they are 86 today. Let's pay homage to these living heroes while we still can.
