Heritage Zulus and Dragoons (1 Viewer)

Excellent additions to the Heritage range. I think that the horses that Heritage produce are some of the best around in the hobby, but wouldn't horses with white socks have brown or lighter coloured hooves rather than all black ones. This doesn't however detract from what is yet another really excellent mounted figure.

Yes they would, when Bruce took over the painting that was one of the things we discussed. Bruce ended up using "artistic licence" because he preferred the contrast of black and white. Easily sorted though, and as all our figures are made to order, rather than in large batches, if a collector wants light coloured hooves that can be supplied.:)
Just as a matter of interest, in the Household Cavalry we scrubbed light hooves with lime to clean then, the brushed with hoof oil for a shine. Dark hooves (or mainly dark) were brushed with black boot polish.

Thanks Martin for the clarification and for the information with regard to the Household Cavalry and how they got the shine on the hooves regardless of their colour. For your information I am the collector that John Firth put together and painted the race horse figures for which he showcased on the TF forum and also on his own website. I am also a regular contributor to Toy Soldier Collector magazine and it struck me that with the amount of new stuff that yourself and Bruce are producing at the moment for Heritage that it might be an idea to write an extended review article on the new figures being produced at the moment as well as a mention to the new Heritage website that Ken has recently launched. What do you think? I was also very impressed with the native mounted figures that Bruce uploaded under a separate thread and thought that the Skewbald paint treatment for the horses worked well in that setting. Anyway let me know if you and or Bruce would be up for what I have suggested and if you are perhaps you could supply me with some details of release plans and of course photos to help illustrate my text. I will let you have my Private Email address so we can communicate without the need to go through the TF forum if you are agreeable to this suggestion.
Best wishes
