HIRIART Durbar & Indian Army Sets (2 Viewers)

WOW as tempting as that is I know I have to pass since I am trying to convince my wife to let me get an interesting firearm I found over here and to get my hunting license renewed etc, not to mention I might just might make it to London for the up coming show.

Very very cool to say the least. You have a really amazing collection.

Here are two photos of the HIRIART Delhi Durbar elephant sets 1309 and 1310 showing the foot figures which are a part of the sets, but were not shown in the stock photos.

Thanks, Martyn. I collect Indian Army, but not Durbar, per se, so these are the only two Durbar elephant sets I have. Actually, they are a relative bargin at $240 each given the fact that other Durbar elephant sets go for $500 - $800. I have picked up three JG Miniatures Indian buuilding facades on eBay for use as back drops, but I still like Bob Walker's Indian wall back drop better.

My new 2011 Hiriart catalog CD that I received on January 31st, has new photos of the two Dehli Durbar sets showing different foot figures than my previous postings. I am not sure if this how they now come or not.

Mike,

These are nice looking figures. A question about the Elephant, is it hollow underneath like the horses?

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,

Although the elephants are quite heavy, they are indeed hollow underneath.

Mike . . . Will you be bringing some Hiriart sets to the West Coaster?

Al

Al,

Yes, I have approximately 50 Hiriart sets available for resale that I will have at the West Coaster. In fact, I made up a special sampler set of nine different figures (all from different sets) with someone like you in mind. I should be in my usual room 708 at the Irvine Marriott; I'll be checking in on Friday, March 4th. Looking forward to seeing you again.

BTW, for all of you out there suffering through this particularly snowy, brutal winter, it is 79 degrees Fahrenheit here today in sunny Los Angeles. I spent the day yesterday at Disneyland with my granddaughter and it was actually hot at the park; I was sorry that I wasn't wearing a short-sleeve shirt and shorts. I hope some of you from the colder climes will come out to the West Coaster not only for the toy soldiers, but for the weather.

I am adding set 1106 Elephant with Bengal Native Infantry Machine Gun Crew to my 2011 order with Hiriart. My earlier post was the version for SAIMEX Toys in Italy which has one less figure than the standard catalog set. If any of you would like to also order the set, it is $125 plus shipping. My e-mail address is matara42@roadrunner.com. No deposit is required.

To answer a question regarding the set: The elephant is metal not resin or plastic, but it is hollow underneath (i.e., it is not solid).

FYI: The companion set to 1106 a (machine gun) is 1106 b with a mortar. Patron3085 from El Salvador has the mortar version on eBay for an asking price of $200. Stock catalog photo attached.

Although it isn't the greatest photo, here is a close-up that shows a better view of the elephant drape from set 1309 DEHLI DURBAR WITH KING GEORGE V.

In 2010, when I started this thread, I may have misidentified this set. I believe it should be set 1303 24TH DUTCHESS OF CONNAUGHT's OWN BALUCHISTAN INFANTRY.
