HIRIART French Military Parade, 1914 (1 Viewer)

Finally, the mounted troops, from left to right:

1315 SPAHIS SENEGALAIS

1168 CHASSEURS D'AFRIQUE

1171 SPAHIS DE AFRIQUE

As I have mentioned before, the French military in their 1914 uniforms makes a very colorful display.

Al,

All is fair in love, war, and toy soldiers. Seriously, they are hard to beat especially as glossies. I don't think matte figures would have the same impact.

Patron3085 has listed a 15 figure colour party formation of the Buffs Regiment at-present-arms for $275 plus $25 shipping on eBay today.

In December, I posted some new photos of my World War I French Military Parade, 1914 display. Those photos were shot at about a 30 degree angle and showed about three sets at a time. I also took some close-ups which were taken at eye level which shows more individual figure detail, especially regarding the first figure in each set which has either a fanion or a bugle. In this close-up photo, the two sets are 1127 ZOUAVES De CONSTANTINE and 1143 INFANTERIE de LIGNE, 1914.

Hi Mike,

Yes, it is quite colorful and the various uniforms are very interesting. When you are ready to make the move from Greeks, let me know. I'll include the French buildings facade backdrop for you, which really enhances the overall effect.

Ah, my favorite thread re-emerges.:wink2:^&cool^&grin Great stuff. {bravo}} -- Al

Well, thank you Al, that is very nice of you to say that. In your honor, here is another close-up which shows set 1143 INFANTERIE de LIGNE, 1914 at a different angle along with set 1145 FUSILIER MARINS, 1914.

coming from the land of matte I had not seen this thread, fantastic sets

Thank you for the compliment. Maybe, you will consider coming over from the dark side and join us glossy affectionatos. Just think what that display would look like if the figures were painted in matte instead of glossy.

Here is a close-up of set 1165 MARINE FRANCAISE "POMPON ROUGE" in their blue winter uniforms. Note the bag piper which one doesn't usually associate with the French, but which must have its origins in the Celtic heritage of the Bretons. Hiriart also has another version of the Pompon Rouge, set 1125, in summer whites.
