1292 Meharista Infantry
1293 Cyrenaica Saharan Camel Corps
1294 Tripolitania Saharan Camel Corps.

I forgot to mention that there are also several Italian sets in Hiriart's Spanish Civil War series. They can be found on the SAIMEX website under "Sfilata Franchista." I believe that Hiriart has more Italian sets than in any other line that I am aware of.

ES14 Italian Green Arrows Infantry
ES24 XXIII of March Black Shirt Division
ES31 Bersaglieri Motorcycle Company
ES32 Light Tank Company (this could be the same as set 1207)
ES40 Aviation Legionari

I just noticed a mistake I made in this list. Set 1206 is Italia Fara Da Se with Black Shirts and Mussolini. Set 1207 is the CV33 Ansalso light tank.

I took some photos of some of my Hiriart Italian Army sets.

Photo one: Set 1198 Cacciatori d'Africa, Addis Abeba, 1936.

Photo two: Set 1197 Italian Infantry, 1939.

Photo three: Set 1206 Italia Fara Da Sa, Mussolini and Young Fascists.

Photo four: From top, set 1258 Folgore Parachute Infantry Division (North Africa), set 1193 WWII Bersaglieri with helmets, and set ES24 the XXIII of March Black Shirt Division from the Spanish Civil War.

I just saw a Desert Version of set 1207, the FIAT Ansaldo CV33 Light tank on eBay. It came with figures similar to the Cacciatori d'Africa set number 1198. I am going to add this version to my pending order; I'll take a photo of it when it arrives.

I had forgot that I had started this thread a while back. Since then, I have acquired more photos of of Italian military sets. Here are five from the 19th century:

1227 Italian Dragoons, 1891

1228 Italian Lancers, 1891

1229 Italian Light Cavalry, 1891

1230 Italian Colonial Cavalry, 1891

1230 Italian Colonial Cavalry, 1891 (blue tunics)

Set 1247 Artilleria a Cavalleria "Le Voloire" Italia represents an Italian horse artillery regiment that originated in Piemonte in 1831. I believe these uniforms of the flying battery are from the Resorgimento in the 1860s. The black detail on their kepis is horsehair.

Here is a photo of the non-catalog desert version of set 1207 ANSALDO CARROARMATO CV-33 TANKETT. The tankett crewman is wearing a standard Italian steel helmet rather than the special leather tanker's headgear which both of my sets (regular catalog and desert) have.

Mike,

I took this photo at last Saturday's London show.

Jeff,

Thanks for sharing the photo from London. The three Italian military sets in your shot are as follows:

1206 ITALIA FARA DE SA with Mussolini
1170 ITALIAN BERSAGLIERI, 1900
1207 ANSALDO CARROARMATO CV33 Tankett

The first set represents young fascist blackshirts who fought in North Africa wearing black fezzes rather than steel helmets. I believe that they were organized as the 135th Division and may have been destroyed at El Alemein. I have the second set with two extra buglers and two extra men so that I can display them as one officer, three buglers and nine men (3 X 3). I notice that the Ansaldo tankett set does not have the crewman wearing the special black leather tanker's helmet, as mine does.

Here is a photo of set 1291 ASCARI LIBICHE ITALIA, 1928 III Batallione. The set actually comes with nine figures, not the eight shown (as sold by SAMIEX TOYS in Italy). I have also attached three other, non-catalog versions of the VIII, IX, and X Battalions each with a different colored flag, cumberbunds, and tassels. Next year I am ordering for me and two other collectors, the first and second battalions which will have black and blue colors, respectively.
