Absolutely wonderful set, have not seen that before. Amazing how the look of that set has stood the test of time. :)

Thanks for sharing.

Another 19th century era set is 1290 ASCARI SOTTO IL TRICOLORE ITALIA, 1898 which means Italian Ascari under the tricolor and represents native troops in Somaliland.

The small and large pieces of scenery and vehicles in the Hiriart sets as so unique and wonderful, really makes them special.

I agree Ray that those are nice touches that do make them special.

Here is another rarely seen set---it is the World War I Italian Army wearing Adrian helmets. Set 1262 FANTERIA ESERCITO ITALIANO, 1915.

This set also represents an unusual subject matter. From the Spanish Civil War catalog, set ES-31 ITALIAN BERSAGLIERI MOTORIZADOS.

Just noticed that there are two Hiriart Italian cavalry sets on eBay today for a very low opening bid of $1.60 each. These are the four figure (SAIMEX Toys in Italy) versions of sets 1227 DRAGONI ITALIANI, 1891 and 1229 CAVALLEGERI ITALIANI, 1891 as shown on post #10. Here is a chance to potentially pick them up for a steal.

Another camel themed set is 1293 CYRENAICA IRREGULAR DUBATS, ITALIA, 1928. Of course, Cyrenaica was an Italian colony in the western part of present day Libya.

On my next Hiriart order in 2012, I have decided to order this set in a special version. I will ask that it be made with an officer, national flag bearer, a bugler, and six men marching at shoulder arms rather than sling arms. If any of you are also interested in having this special set, email me at matara42@roadrunner.com and I will order one for you, too.

I got my Spanish and Italian mixed up on the previous photo. It should be MILITARE not MILITARIA.

I took this photo November 5th at Bob Walker's open house.

1197 WORLD WAR II ITALIAN BERSAGLIERI

I don't know who made the Italian tank, but it appears to be from a plastic kit.
