Another 19th century era set is 1290 ASCARI SOTTO IL TRICOLORE ITALIA, 1898 which means Italian Ascari under the tricolor and represents native troops in Somaliland.

That is a great Beau Geste set of Italian Alpini. I don't personally have it since I have the Hiriart version.

Here is another rarely seen set---it is the World War I Italian Army wearing Adrian helmets. Set 1262 FANTERIA ESERCITO ITALIANO, 1915.

This set also represents an unusual subject matter. From the Spanish Civil War catalog, set ES-31 ITALIAN BERSAGLIERI MOTORIZADOS.

Just noticed that there are two Hiriart Italian cavalry sets on eBay today for a very low opening bid of $1.60 each. These are the four figure (SAIMEX Toys in Italy) versions of sets 1227 DRAGONI ITALIANI, 1891 and 1229 CAVALLEGERI ITALIANI, 1891 as shown on post #10. Here is a chance to potentially pick them up for a steal.

On my next Hiriart order in 2012, I have decided to order this set in a special version. I will ask that it be made with an officer, national flag bearer, a bugler, and six men marching at shoulder arms rather than sling arms.
