Regarding the use of ES-1 with red stars I will see if I can check but it might not be late next week as my reference book is in my office and I'm traveling this week.

Thanks Brad, no hurry since I am still waiting for the first part of my 2012 order from Hiriart to arrive. I will be ordering the Republicans on my 2013 order which I won't place until the current order is completed.
Here are scans. They didn't come out the greatest but I could email them you directly, if you wish.
These are from the Bueno book, Uniformes Militares de la Guerra Civil Espanola. The figure on the left in the first scan is a Soldado de Infanteria en Uniforme de Campana, or Infantry Soldier in campaign uniform. You can see he has a red star on his helmet. He is wearing the so called French "Adrian" steel helmet, which was widely worn in the Ejercito Popular or People's Army.
The second scan is of a cavalryman but there is no star. According to Bueno, this is a typical uniform of the pre-war Spanish Cavalry. The uniform shown was worn in the Catalan region (Cataluna being where Barcelona and Tarragona are located).
Thank you so much for those scans. If they would be sharper images in an e-mail, please send them when you get a chance. I am at matara42@roadrunner.com. The only thing I am going to change on the Republiucan set I was contemplating in post number 56, is to add the red star to their Adrian helmets. Which version do you like best?
Probably the one with the red stars. I can't totally tell but the uniforms in post 56 seem blackish which would make sense whereas the ones in the scans are brownish so Hiriart would just have to add the stars and paint the uniforms brown.
