What movies would you like to see made?
I would like to see another French & Indian War movie. No good ones have come out since Last of the Mohicans (1992)
A Royal Navy movie in the age of sail
A good pirate movie maybe in the time of Henry Morgan
A good ACW movie maybe based on the Battle of Chickamauga
Would like to see a movie on the Conquistadors
My interest as you can see is pre-1900 but I would just like to see some good historical movies. They don;t have to bee 100% accurate just rousing good entertainment.

The battle for Tarawa island would be a good one. Also Martyn (GICOP) had Little Legion make him a desperate battle where they fought to the last (can't remember the name), which sounds really interesting.

I think that must be The Shangani Patrol :salute::

The last movie of the action was made around 1970.

If you clip on this link you can see the full movie on Youtube

Cheers

1) Custer's Last Stand...as historically accurate as possible..think Son of Morning Star updated with a better actress for Libby..
2) Battle of Trafalgar....Master and Commander with more ships
3) Fredericksburg.........Turner like, but less drama queens and almost no talking.:rolleyes2:
4) WW1 Air Wars.........Flyboys with more variety in airplanes
5) FIW Action..............Never mind..Last of the Mohegans ( Perfect!^&grin )

Two movies come to mind about the Conquistadors..... Don't remember their names but one starred Tyrone Power and Ceaser Romero as conquistadors going against Montazuma, probably made in the late 40's or 50's. The other really wasn't about the Spanish but was 2 warring factions of pre-Aztec tribes, starring Yule Brenner and George Tacharas? of West Side Story...

War of 1812...with emphasis on Battle of New Orleans...Jackson and Lafitte...

Creek War...emphasis on Horseshoe Bend...

Here you go:

Given the state of current computer graphics, it could be made quite believable.

As for the storyline, no embellishment necessary on this one.

Simply recount the events of those several hours.

BTW, I believe that Captain Evans of the destroyer Johnston is owed origin of the phrase "in harm's way."

We would want to make certain that Ben Affleck isn't involved in the film!{eek3}

Charleston Heston and Yule Brenner, Jackson and Lafitte, again cant't remember the name of movie

Andy...I think there is one older than that...Tyronne Pwers or Errol Flynn...those are 30 and 60 years old...^&grin...

I want a new one...

Totally agree, possibly the most little known, heroic naval battle in all of U.S. history..The Japanese made a wonderful movie ,recent ,about the Yamato. Subtitled, but great action and acting. Michael

My choices would be the Battle of the Bulge and Kursk with authentic German, American and Russian armoured vehicles and other vehicles used. For massed scenes using armour etc, then CGI can recreate these battles in a grand scale.

Another two would be the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal and Battle for Midway. Again, CGI can now recreate all the ships and aircraft in a grand scale.

I've always kind of wanted someone to do a good movie on the 1st Afghan war, specifically the retreat that lead to the last stand of the 44th Ft. at Gandamak in 1842. I have a large print of the outstanding painting by William Wollen of the last stand. Always has been my favorite military painting. I think it would make a good story to transfer to the big screen. -- Al
