This doesn't sound too promising. I like Danny McBride (aka Kenny Powers) but yikes:

"According to Deadline, original series co-creator Al Ruddy is working on the reboot with executive producers Danny McBride, David Gordon Green and Jody Hill. The reimagined version reportedly will be set in the present day and focus on the descendants of the original characters, who are now scattered around the world, gathering together for a global treasure hunt."

The premise sounds strange. Have you watched his new show on HBO, the Gemstones. It has some funny moments.

That sounds beyond terrible...………...

Brad...

I have been watching The Righteous Gemstones...that is one crooked, dysfunctional family...I think HBO has a winner in it...always been a fan of Danny McBride...and especially John Goodman...

Terrible idea to reboot Hogan's Heroes, I mean, what's the global treasure hunt going to be for, Bob Crane's missing porno collection?:rolleyes2: -- Al

I've watched it. It certainly has its moments but doesn't strike me as being funny as it should have been. The whole televangelist angle is about 20 years out of date. Old Jim and Tammi Baker were a hoot back in the day but it's a tired premise now. I liked "Vice Principals" and "Eastbound and Down" a lot more than this one.

In terms of Hogan's Heroes, they could never re-make that one today with its amiable Nazis like Klink and Schultz.

I'm seeing a Quentin Tarantino-ish bent to this possible remake. Brad Pitt will play the Hogan part (completely in the spirit of his Lt. Aldo Raine from Inglorious Basterds) and Col. Klink will be played by Christoph Waltz, also channeling his character Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds. It will be a comedy, of course, but of substantially darker material than the original. Perhaps Netflix or HBO will have to do this because regular broadcast TV won't be able to handle the material. Hogan and his gang will use Stalag 13 as a base of operations as they kill and kidnap Nazi bad guys (with the requisite Tatantinoesque bloodbaths) while Klink attempts to solve the crimes and put a halt to them as he narrows down the focus of his investigations to the ultimately impossible solution that the crimes are committed by his own prisoners. Should be a real hoot. Now, who plays Sgt. Shultz? -- Al

What I find most interesting about Danny McBride is that on the surface his comedy is juvenile. But then it has an unexpectedly dark and sometimes even poignant quality to it that makes it a cut above. The last episode of Righteous Gemstones (which I don't think is his best show) had that quality. Very funny and sad.

Robert Clary (aka Corporal Louis LeBeau) passed away this week at the age of 96. I didn't realize that he was a Holocaust survivor and that ten of his siblings had died during the Holocaust.

When are they going to learn that Reboots are rarely successful, much better to use similar ideas and plots in a new way. For example they rebooted Kolchak's Night Stalker, it was ok, but that series failed. Yet the X-Files that used a similar theme of unbelieved Hero(s) was a huge success. As for Power of the Ring, I don't want to talk about it {sm2}

Love Hogan's Heroes, great old show, funny, witty and entertaining. Sorry to hear about Clary, had read his story previously, nothing short of amazing his own survival.

Reboots as has been said rarely work, this is one that would be awful I am sure, they should leave well enough alone.
