Privates John Brophy, Richard Cripps, and William Earnshaw of the 1st Battalion York & Lancaster Regt. ("The Tigers") take up a defensive position against a scouting party of Fuzzy Wuzzies. All three men were killed in the Battle of Tamai in the Sudan 13th March 1884. The regimental motto (borrowed from the Order of the Garter), the title of this thread, translates as "Let he who thinks ill there be shamed."
