Guys,I wonder if I can ask for some advice from you painting experts.

Has anyone used 502 Abteilung oil colours, and if so can you thin them down with anything?.

Cheers for any advice

Rob

Hi, Rob, you can use turpentine or mineral spirits, or turpenoid, they all have their own qualities, and their adherents. The most common advantage of turpenoid is that it doesn't smell as bad as turpentine, according to many who use it. But it's basically an odorless mineral spirit.

I've used all three, and I haven't developed a real preference, except that I can use the mineral spirits with some of my enamel paints as well as with oils, while the turpentine doesn't seem to be as good a solvent for enamels.

Hope that helps, prosit!

Rob,

Just to forwarn you, as I know you'll be tempted, the answer is 'No', it doesn't work too well with tonic and a slice of lemon.

I'd better not light that cigarette I was about to have with my drink then mate:eek:;)
