Horseguards at the bar (2 Viewers)

That is another nice addition Konrad.

Two things though, the first one being the front and back end of the horse don't match up movement wise. The front is being held by the solider to steady the horse so the other soldier can keep his balance while the back end appears to be moving. The tail is swaying and the back leg is off the ground as to appear walking? Is it just me, perhaps I am too picky, otherwise I think it is great.

Second point can you tell me what the base/tree is made of it is resin or plaster?

Thanks
Scott

Scott,
I think the horses pose is fine. Three legs are "standing", pretty much straight to the ground. For me it seemed natural that a horse might lift one leg while still standing at a spot, but am not positive though :)
The scenic base here and on the other two winter sets seem to be a kind of plaster, not resin.

Thanks for the information Konrad much appreciated.

Thanks Konrad for the pictures of your Britain's Christmas club figures. They are great. John

Hi John,
how you're doing? Good to hear from you.
Here's another set of the series. The 2003 edition, called "Preparations for New Years Day".

Is this the one you are thinking of? Made by ALexanders Toy Soldiers.

Yes!! The very one! Alexanders! Thanks, Scott!

Brad,

Funny how you and I seem to have so many similar likes! I love that movie as well! I have only seen it a few times over the years but when ever I notice its on I try to watch it. Will have to see if I can get it on DVD sometime. Great flick!

Birds of a feather, Dave! :D

I can claim to be the one who first created the article for that movie at the IMDb, back around 1998 or 99, when I first went on the Web. I added "Fall of Eagles", too.

@Konrad, sorry for the threadjack! Thanks again for sharing these sets! They really do capture the classic toy soldier look, combining it with very good design, scuplting and staging for each little vignette.

Prost, beianand!

Don't you worry, Brad, I am glad you did :D
Never knew of that building before and now it is on my "very nice items" list
Also, I do have to agree, that a few glossy figures, vignettes from the German Imperial Era would be a treat.
Prost! ;)

Hi Tom,
the JG base was not offered/available with this lot. I saw it at one of Craig's posts and it looks nice, but I am fine with displaying them seperately.
Did you get the base when you located winter sets?
Konrad

Yes got very lucky. Keep an eye out, I have seen it appear and people don't know what it is!

I still need 43057 (club set) and 41190 (first London Figure in the new era of Britains)

Those are beautiful sets Konrad. Is that the original paint job or were they repainted. Classic soldiers.

All original as far as I can tell, Brad.
They have a great finish, somewhat better then Britain's new glossies.
