Was just reading that and, what more is their to say??? What a character and, the reason why we won the war we look on in awe at the few remaining veterans but there were thousands just like this guy who would never know what it meant to be beaten or to give up.

Amazing story and an amazing man

Absolutely, the spirit of attack and the disregard of danger is jaw dropping. This man and his comrades actually made a physical impact on the success of D Day and caused havoc and fear amongst Nazi forces. He really makes the decapitation of a German general and another officer sound like another good day at the office. As you say this was the sort of man who won the war for us, the Germans may have had better Tanks but with men like this fighting for us we were bound to win. I am SO going to get myself a copy of that book!

That's an amazing story. C'mon Andy make a figure for one of your own!

That's as #$%@#$%@#$ hardcore as I have read in a long time. Britain should be immensely proud- the Das Reich division at that- amazing. 90 years and still trucking.

Excellent writeup by the way- why buy the book?? :)

I read a story a couple years back- can't find it now unfortunately, about a Captain Churchill who used a bow and split some Nazis skull with an arrow on DDay (I think)- it was entertaining to say the least.

Gotta hand it to Tommy- you guys got a distinct flair!! :D

This gentleman sure led a charmed life. Fighting behind enemy lines is possibly the most dangerous of activities. What a fine soldier he was to have had such impact in action and survive. It will be a fascinating book. -- Al

Warriors like that are force multipliers in the extreme- our own Special Forces did the same thing in Nam and they are doing it again in Afghanistan.
