How about a series on the Mongols and China Wars? (1 Viewer)

there are still so many new series Andy can make. I have been thinking about the conflict after WWII. and given that Andy has been a Royal Marine. Then I think of the 1982 Falklands War. The Americans and Australia's collectors have Vietnam. Israeli Defense Force series. so it would be nice for English collectors?

I think not enough of us in the UK to collect the series to make the Falklands War Series worth it, but Andy could do it as he is a good guy and there are somethings that just need doing. I served there, first overseas posting, and I am unsure I would collect, bit too close for comfort for me.

Plus the range will have to include making Para figures and that has got to hurt, a Bookneck, haha [just to show this last sentence is a joke].

Hi you can be right Mate! but Andy also made English Civil War. And sold well.
Collect toy Soldiers is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you will get.

My favorite K&C series now is Ancient Egypt. The Ancient Egyptian history and culture is fascinating on so many levels.
I know this is a "non-military" series right now but why not a sub-series of Egyptians in battle with an adversary like
the Hittites/Sea Peoples. Or a procession of Egyptian warriors coming back from a campaign with prisoners and spoils
of war.

Cheers, I am not so sure the ECW sold that well, you can pick it up quite cheap in the UK, I started but bailed out after a year or so and sold what I had, the only other series I can think of like this is the Crimea range, that is very cheap now for resale. There is lots for everyone and I think collecting K & C Toy Soldiers is a love hate relationship, collectors are unhappy when there is nothing released for them, over the moon when there is something for them, but never happy enough they always want more.

It is an attitude thing, I know a collector who is happy both ways, great if there is releases for him, but he always says his credit card is happy when there is not. Yet I know another who always see the negative, nothing released for him, not happy, stuff released he moans about how much he is going to spend. Andy does not walk a tightrope he seems to walking along a line of cotton, always someone not happy.

Sounds interesting and would interest current collectors of the era and bring in new ones.

I totally agree with you!
you can't make everyone happy. I have been collecting K&C for 16 years and I am satisfied with what Andy brings out. And understand that the market for Toy Soldiers is difficult to estimate is what is selling well or not? but it is a fun hobby and with so many sets every year there is always something for you.

I'd like to have a series about few beaten historical paths, but, i understand the perspective of the producer. It's easy to release WWII, not so easy (and controversial, yes, even after 160 years) to release something about the "Indian Mutiny" (just to say one of the ranges i'd like to see). I was in love with the Crimea range but with hindsight , after reproducing the Charge, The Thin Red Line...what else? Inkerman, yes but what else? Not a conflict very popular... So i think the same can be said about "civilian ranges"...Dickens (i don't own it, but being a Victorian buff it's always on my wishlist), the Ancient Egypt, the Stuart court...yes they sell. What about another? Ancient Rome? Senators, Gladiators, Temples and Forums...i think there's much to gain there. Maybe not for an Elizabethan civil range (or the Invencible Armada, but the problem as usual are the ships, like in a Pirates series) even if that is what i'd like to see in the future...If we look behind in history there's Renaissance (another nice series could be) and then a lot of obscure medieval themes, already beaten by other brands. If we look forward, after the English Civil War series, there's Marlborough, the Revolutionary Wars, and then the great colonial period of 19th century.

I think some Civilians in various ranges would do fine such as Market day through the ages, which could add a lot of interesting variations. I'd like to see Andy do some more figures based on the illustrations of Ron Embleton.
Andy and K&C have done some fine poses of German individual soldiers carrying out their ablutions, I think expanding those ideas into other ranges would be useful. Be great to have same type poses in the Roman range or LOJ, of Legionaries in day to day Barracks life and building those Forts and Roads of the Empire.

Agree that some civilian themes like a Medieval, Roman or Renaissance market day would be very colorful. Even a series of workers building a castle, Cathedral or Ancient Roman roads and forts.
Since I enjoy the Ancient Egypt range and K&C dominates this range, a parade of returning armies with their captives and loot would add to the already wonderful scenes.

I could handle rather well the ship problem in my new pirate dio...^&grin

Good idea; I have a similar one(plus a few others..).Consequently, I am going to paint some figures for making 2 different civilian, unarmed medieval dioramas that I will post in the "dioramas" section.:p....For completing my collection, I am painting the figures by myself, both for the refinement of the sculptures and because I am not going to wait that a manufacturer makes what I want.:p

By the way, the KC Robin Hood range also includes civilians...

KC don't start a range that has already been exploited by other companies( apart from the very popular ones like ex.ww2, ww1 etc.).You have so many examples: Robin Hood, king Arthur, ECW, 6 days war,Dickens, Musqueteers, Viet Nam etc.
Vikings, conquistadores and Mayas have already been made by JJD, so, if you like those ranges, you better buy them from JJD ,aslo considering the similar design and style...

KC already said they won't do samourais for different reasons.

American civil war is not either going to be rebooted, I guess....Many other companies do ACW in an extended way, and the theme is rather exhausted.(PS. I don't understand why the ACW artillery, notably the confederate one, has been neglected by TS companies).

So, KC will surely start a virgin or almost range like Falkland, Mongols, or some regiment not yet exploited.

Poppo,
Mongols are currently being produced by Team Miniatures. Very nice figures, btw.

This is absolutely the hill I die on, so to speak, but I'd love to see K&C do American Revolution era British Marines. I'd buy every last one.

Sorry have to be that guy, Royal Marines.

Was 'the hill I die on' a subtle hint, if so kudos. If not, it must have been subconscious.

For those who maybe a little perplexed, I will 'bunker' down and wait for the replies.

How about a great pirate series, no one has done this since conte

It would in fact be the British Marines as they did not receive their Royal charter until just after the turn of the 19th century.
