So Guys,
Thought I'd summurize my westcoaster experience with some pics.
This is the first show I've gone to and not just showed up on the morning of the show and left a couple of hours later. I was unable to arrive until Sat. afternoon because of work and actually walked in late to the Figarti Symposium. Steve covered the subject matter very well, I was thrilled with the figure, great quality, excellent sculpt and very unique, score 1! Rushed to my cousins house to pacify the wife and headed back for the K&C shin dig at 6:30. once again very interesting discussion and the figure was really special as I had Andy autograph the box, score 2!
I haven't been to a show or specifically the westcoaster in several years but the turn out seemed real good, kinda overwhelming, so much to take in!
Also had my wife, cousin and aunt with me, that kinda worried me as well, they had no Idea what this was all about and my Aunt is full blown German, went thru the war and so on, I was a little edgy about that.
walked in the front of the show and I look at the first K&C dealer table and I immediatly see a Tan Humvee! I try not to trip all over myself as I am drawn mesmerized by the set. Yes it's a complete set SF-03 mint in original box, I tried not to wet myself when he said it was 250.00, Score 3! I got to be honest after that i was kinda in a dazed just so much and I was so jazzed about the Humvee.
To make a long story short we worked our way thru the show and ended in the row with K&C and figarti mfg. displays, I told Andy about my catch and he was floored by my good fortune, at that point he said "Do you want to set them up?" and he and Gordon proceded to remove all the AK figures from the display and help me set up the SF-03 for pics!! Man what a great couple of guys! Shoot I thought we were going to clear the floor and start setting them all up! As you can imagine, by now I have the stupidest smile pinned ear to ear and theres no getting rid of it!
After all this was wrapped up, I said my goodbyes and went over to thank the Figarti folks for everything, I mentioned I had the LRDG vehicles on preorder and they asked me if I'd like to take the 2 1/30th vehicles they had there! HELL YES!!! I answered and they wrapped them up for me.
It was a great show for me, driving back to my aunts house they all commented on how interesting it was and they really enjoyed themselves. The final shocker was my wife has a sister in Milwaukee and suggested maybe we should go to the Chicago Show! what a Gal!!!

Final Tally:
Special Figarti figure
PM013 K&C special
PM010 K&C Chicago special figure
MK08(s) special crusader
SF-03 Humvee set
Both 1/30th LRDG sets
Is a Great Country NO???

Ray , It was nice to meet you. Rick and Andy are nice guys! Did you get any pics with the Hussar with his wings on?

Just so you don't think we're the only ones with out of the ordinary hobbies, my cousin is an artist in his own right, his medium, Lego, his latest creation, the Bismark, completely built from scratch. It's truly beautiful.
Ray

PS: Iwill take some comparison pics with the two manufacturers LRDG vehicles side by side and post tommorrow.

KV,
It was really nice making your aquaintance as well, I felt so rushed with all that family around that I didn't spend as much time as I wanted talking with all the guys, but I'll be back and then we'll set all things right.
No, He never put them on that I saw, You?
Ray

Ray, what a great day you had, especially with your Hummer being displayed on Gordon's diorama. That was generous of Andy and Gordon to do that, but tell Gordon he need not hide his "big hands" like that, be proud of them :D

Personally I prefer to leave the family at home when I go to hobby events. My wife once asked what was so great about them. I said, "the strip shows mainly". After which she laughed and said "yeah right", and doesn't bother to ask anymore.

Ray,
Great score on the Hummer! Looks good on Gordon's dio. Cheers for the photos.

Believe me, this is something I never would have thought they would be interested in, but they were all eager. It really cut into my time to hang with the gang and talk shop. As for the strip shows, I could think of some interesting ways to unveil the "New Sets"! :D:D:D

Simon,
Thanks, Don't know if you've had the opportunity to meet Andy and Gordon, just great normal guys, like to talk and laugh, and are in no way errogant or business "Stuffed Shirts" even though you might think all the praise could go to there heads.
(Perhaps we keep'em real on the forum)

I met Andy at the K&C UK evening do in December, and yep, totally agree with you, great to chat to.

Ok, so now for the comparison of the 2 LRDG vehicles from Figarti and K&C.
1st Figarti is definately larger even though K&C is heavier. The first is head to head Camo version. I think I like the K&C color a little more on this one, the Figarti has a little more greenish tint to it, visually I like the K&C better, historically I don't really know for sure but the Vanguard series on the LRDG refers to the only multi color camo as a 3 color is who knows, I personally don't care. The accesories on the K&C version are more numerous and better detailed especially in painting, however, there all attached as opposed to the Figarti which can be removed. though the accesoeries are nicer on K&C I like the versatility of Figarti as all figures and accesories can be removed.
Figarti figures are generally larger also though the style of paintingis less subtle in the shading and I think could use a little more blending and as has been said before about Figarti style, they have a darker, less vibrant feel to them. Not necesarily bad just different, something every collector will make up his own mind on.The figures on this version of figarti are definately in action, mouths open, firing and with generally menacing grimace, while the K&C is a more subdued pose.

Overall I like the Figarti size and versatility and the K&C color, more numerous acc. and figures.

The second sand version, I prefer the Figarti color a bit more reddish orange, the figures are in more subdued poses, though the painting style still is not my cup of tea. the arms cofigutation I like better as well with the Bren Gun mounted up front and the Lewis gun in the back actually mounted to the stand as opposed to being part of the figure.

The size question begs the question...Which is truer to 1/30 scale? Michael

Ray, great comparo pix there.

These are the measurements of the Canadian built Chev 1533X2 the LRDG used:
L - 219in/556cm
W - 80in/203cm
H - 58in/147cm
Wheel base - 134in/340cm

A true 1/30 scale model would be: 18.5 cm long x 6.8 cm wide x 4.9 cm high with a wheelbase of 11.3 cm

Here's some pix of the actual vehicle against some soldiers together with one of the A/Korps Stug for good measure:

Sorry I wanted to see the detail:eek:

That did not work. Can you make your picture larger? It looks like a great ship!
