How many different poly warbirds are there? (1 Viewer)

So far all the polystone Warbirds have been very sturdy.

A polystone Owl seems unlikely right now.

Figarti has tried to make one in 1:30 and failed, but the last time Rick spoke about it he said they were definitely going to release one.

Was the Typhoon one of the Warbirds Andy promised for 2011?

Yes the Typhoon was on the list Andy put out some time back and will be here this year. Happy new year everyone

I asked Rick about the Owl recently and he replied in open forum that it was sorted and would come out but, did not say when. The Owl is a large plane and should offer hope that larger aircraft can and will be done. Obviously, price and carriage would be a harder thing to overcome than design
Mitch

To my knowledge the Figarti Owl has not failed. Back in the summer Rick said they had conquered a weight distribution problem. Why it has not been released yet I cannot say but perhaps all their energy has been devoted to getting the train line out.

Figarti makes planes differently than K & C so you could have bigger airplanes, as they rely more on resin than polystone, i.e., the B 17s.

I wonder then if Andy has any interest in either looking at other mediums or making larger aircraft
Mitch

Guys, this new Typhoon is going to be awesome, if we thought the Spit and FW190 are good this Typhoon could be the best yet.

Rob...

I don't think your far from the mark it will be hard to top as the Typhoon was such a good looking aircraft. For me, its just below the spit

Yes the Spit will always have the edge over any other WW2 fighter for me because of its beauty of design and legendary silhouette. But the Typhoon also has an elegance but also a slightly fearsome image because of the punch it packed, I would not have wanted to be inside any German AFV with these on the look out for you!

Indeed it must have been scary during daylight hours. It was just incessant from first light to last. I agree about its menacing look and its beauty. Its certainly better looking than the P47 which, I believe Andy has said will be done soon. I know the pilots loved it but, I just can't get away with the way it looked. I like the corsair and the tomahawk but, not the P47

It seems to me that with the current single engine fighters that KC are making in polystone running close to $200 and the new 262 being over that (because of size?), that going to much larger multi-engine aircraft is going to be cost prohibitive. A Mosquito or any medium bomber is going to be too expensive, as would a P-38, I fear. If a Me-109 is near $200, one of these much larger beasts might push $300. We shall see, I suppose, but I have a real concern that the multi-engine aircraft will be beyond the financial reach of many. -- Al

And some of the collectors may not be able to lift a 1/30 polystone Mosquito :D

Can you imagine that at A&E how did you give yourself a hernia?? Lifting a 1/30th warbird!!!

But nurse, you should see the painting and weathering on it!;)

I've been considering that an Avro Lancaster in polystone might weight too much for the weight bearing rating of the floor in my aboad, not to mention being too big to get in the door. -- Al

Do you think a HE111 would be feasible or would that be too large?

Months ago, I posted something about making this in poly. Andy soon responded, but gave the impression that it wouldn't happen. I'm assuming, like many, that the whole price/size/weight issue is what keeps this idea grounded. However, being my favorite bomber, it would definitely be worth the extra money.

Anyone have an idea of how many of those first two polystone planes were made? They look superb. Happy New Year. Larry.

If your meaning the Hurricanes I think it was 200 and 400 repectively
Mitch

The first plane, the Hurricane, was 400. I think the second plane was the air taxi. Don't know the amount.

Thanks Mitch, however, I was actually refering to the very early ones that someone posted a couple days ago. Thanks though for your answer. Regards, Larry.
