How many of you guys getting the WS103 88mm Flak? (1 Viewer)

already got mine reserved, it's gonna be great in a late war diorama or maybe my d-day dio, i would love to see some type of winter 88 since the only ones you can find go for about 1200-2000 dollars, and thats not happening..sammy

I've never seen an 88 mounted on a prime mover. this will be the first This particular model, though I'm sure was produced, I've never seen it in books or documentary movies. I will always remember an 88 Flak as towed or dismounted on its 4 legs (or whatever technical term you call it). So, I'll pass this one.

N-P

I have a book on German Halftracks and flak vehicles. There are many pictures and only one shows an 88 mounted on a half track. This was called a Flak37. I know the model says Flak 18. They said only a couple were made. Most pictures show the 88's being towed. The Flak 36 was more common gun and mounted on halftracks. This was a narrow barreled AA gun. Also, the Flak 20mm quad gun 38 was more common on halftracks. John

I'm sort of mystified by some of the members passing up on this 88 although every one has the right to do so.

People have been asking for one for awhile but since somehow it doesn't seem to accord with the vision of what an 88 should be people are taking a pasadena. The prior 88s made by K & C have never been the same. The WS 24 was certainly different than the WS 57 and so now Andy is now doing something a little different again. I do remember him saying a long time ago that 88s are not easy to make (I don't know if this is still the case) and if that still holds, I wouldn't necessarily take it to the bank that an AK 88 will be made although I do hope that he does.

If I can scrape up enough money for this one then I'll buy it ASAP. I rather pay $239 (or $249 can't remember the exact price) now rather then $400+ down the road.

I am going to pass on this one as it was not present at the "Bulge." A man has got to know his particular campaign/display limitations!

I Am Going To Pass On This One Also. I Rather Spend My Money On Something Els.

When this 88 arrives on my doorstep my Allies are going be completely outgunned, got to get that M12 pretty soon,my troops need artillery back up!

i have the same image - rommel standing besides the 88mm, 2 icons of the Afrika Korps might together :)

Hmmm.....I guess that would be the self same overpowering might of the Afrika Korps that had their a*** kicked out of Libya, Egypt, Libya again, then Tunisia......

In my opinion, Might does not equates to Invincibility.

Rommel did exceptionally well with the resources at his disposal, and though far from perfect, is still respected and studied today.

The 88mm flak gun is still regarded today as the best anti-tank piece of ww2.

And superior technology does not guarantee victory.

for eg - in the 13th century, China was well known for its military might and superior technology, but were severely thrashed by the 'less civilised and primitive' mongols.

regards.

I'm with you Beau- couple things working against this one in my book. I am more of an "iconic" WW2 collector- this thing just seems too obscure.

I'm definitely tempted! It ticks all the right boxes as far as my usual collecting interests are concerned; late war, regular Wehrmacht, etc.

For some reason though the classic image of the 88 I'd have in my head is on the ground mounting, with frontal shield - I'd prefer that type to a vehicle mounted version, so might hold on and see for a little while yet.

Still relatively new to this, so not sure, but did K&C Previously release a version like that?? For reference, please see the attached link:

Cheers,

Molloy.

I agree.....I would very much prefer a ground version of the 88 gun.....Yes it has been done before by K/C and I for one will hold on this one.....I personally will not jump on this simply due to limited #'s.......regards Vezzolf

I,m going to grab it , i,ve got exactly zero 88,s so this is as good
a place to start as any for me . I,m going to be historically acurate
and add it to my winter germans as they get sent packing by Richard
the lion heart and his Knights of the square table ;)
