Good sizes and very versatile backgrounds. Lots of nice scenes will be produced using these. Robin.

I'm sure you will like them Robin. They also come in a nice plastic case for easy storage.

I have just received two backdrops from Hudson & Allen; one is a Winter scene and one Woodlands. They were both made from originals handpainted by Ken Osen and measure 54 x 18. They are tremendous!

Here is a link to the WBritain website, https://www.wbritain.com/product-store/hudson--allen-studio/ha2101---winter-scene-backdrop-no1 and https://www.wbritain.com/product-st.../ha2102---eastern-woodland-scene-backdrop-no1

Sounds like you are happy with them, I had noticed them on Treefrog's site.

Can you please tell me if there is a white border to the backdrops or if the print goes all the way to the edge ?

Thank you.

No white borders whatsoever.

I didn't know that Treefrog had them. When I look at the H & A section, I noticed that they're still listed as pre-order whereas Britain's has them in stock.

I think Ericka Osen said they might be doing a third backdrop.

Hi there,
Thanks for the kind comments!

I paint these backdrops for photo use here and also for the custom shadow boxes. I have painted several in the recent past and never digitized them...but that will not be the case in the future.
I am working on a couple of others between sculpting new figures and the paperwork that comes with owning a business, but there are more coming this year. We are trying to reproduce the ones that will be useful for multiple periods and any collection you might have, but as always, be patient!
All the best,
Ken

Great price on them also.I was way off with what I had in mind.

Interested to know Brad, how do you use them, meaning do they have a tenancy to roll back into a cylinder shape or do they need a backing to hold them flat?? They certainly look very useful. Robin.

Robin,

I just received them and haven't tried to use them yet but I will need to flatten them. One option, of course, is to attach it to backing but you'll need some pretty big backing and then you have the storage problem. When I use them, I will probably attach some tape (temporarily) and after I'm done taking photos, put them back in the cylinder.

Ted emailed me that they are in and should be preparing a shipment coming our way. Watch the Website and subscribe to the Rivet! Once they come in we will let you all know :)

Robin, I took one out today and because they're made from high quality paper, they don't roll back in cylindrical shape, unlike the JG ones which I need to flatten out for a couple of days before I can use them.

It may not be fair to compare H & A to JG because the former are clearly superior, and different, not to mention it's unlike anything we've seen before commercially.

Brad

Since they are printed on a quality paper you could take them to a framing shop or sign store and have them mounted on a piece of foam core. That way they would stay nice and flat on your diorama. They could be easyily stored behind a door when not in use.

Thanks Brad, based on what you have said, I just ordered them from TF. Robin.

Robin,
Bunnings has foam core which should be ideal for the H&A one. I have used it on JG ones and although H&A ones much bigger Bunnings has plenty of sizes available. 54" is quite a large size if you do stick it to some foam core.

Good thought Brett. I could store down the side of cupboard or the like. I want them to be rigid so I will look into this idea. Robin.

I thought some of you might like to see our winter backdrop used with our snow mat along with a few figures and scenic items. We feel it is quick and effective.
Ken

Looks brilliant Ken, the backdrop even has a 3D quality to it.

Will you be doing other backdrops to complement the other different periods of toy soldiers you make?

Scott,

In his first post, Ken indicated there would be others.
