Hurt Locker (1 Viewer)

Looks like there is more talk about the gowns.

Miley Cyrus did NOT get "Posture Queen."

I thought it was a good- not great- flick though I think Blackhawk Down still sets the Gold Standard for Modern era war flicks. A close second, imo is Bravo Two Zero with Sean Bean acting as SAS operator "Andy McNab" and the longest recorded SERE mission in military history. (B2Z is a TV 2 hour miniseries I guess)

Anyway, I think this film detached from the audience in the fact that it profiled an EOD team- not your average troopers- a small percentage in fact. Most people can relate to grunts, tankers, cannon- cockers and medics but EOD's aren't the typical baggage.

Still- some very engrossing scenes in it.

Maybe I'll give The Hurt Locker another chance.
In the IDEAL, a movie is to take the audience into someplace they most likely haven't been before and to identify with unfamiliar characters in some way. Probably doesn't matter what rank or branch of the service if the story is good.

I have no plans to watch Precious, The Blind Side, or Crazy Heart, although "Good for them!" for getting their movies that far in the Academy.

My neighbor said she couldn't wear a dress that needed double-sided tape ( a "chick" thing) but Meryle Streep sure carried it off.

Just watched it tonight with my son. While this is not a bad movie both of us were disappointed. Acting was good, topic somehow out of the ordinary for a war movie but something was missing to make this movie a great one due to the pretty narrow focus of the story and small cast. I wouls have love to see more interaction with Irakis, other fellow soldiers, etc. I felt like watching the same sequence again and again with only a small variation each time. Anyway I personnally think it was not oscar worthy but it's just MHO...

Where do they put the "doubled sided tape"............................:D

I finally saw this last night and quite enjoyed it.I thought it was good apart perhaps from the scene near the end in which the three of them venture into town and then split up and each take an alleyway, that did strike me as unlikely but apart from that enjoyable.

I liked it as well. There were a few things in there, like that scene that you refered to that are a little far fetched, and a few details like soldiers wearing the ACU uniform instead of the khaki and brown desert pattern that was worn during the time period depicted that were wrong. But what I did appreciate is that they just told the story and didn't get all political like the previous Iraq war films have.
