I wanted to report in that I am a Victim of King & Country's Cross Marketing Program !

Yes - I have been very impressed with the US Navy figures and as I down size bigger collections and move towards smaller dioramas - the evil genius Andy has hooked me.

I never looked at the Old Streets of Hong Kong figures - but now with this "Sand Pebbles" diorama running in head - I can't help myself. :D

I have purchased the Old Chinese Gate, Tea House diorama piece and Golden Dragons ! - I am working up to a little diorama for a display with these figures. My new approach is to slow down a little on collecting and set up a few small dioramas which I will buy a few figures for at a time.

Anyway - CONGRATS Andy - you got me ! ;) Anyone else ??

We are all vctims Ron and this forum is something of a support group!;).

SHANNON 'Well its obviously a serious case, but we can still help'

ROB 'And Waterloo...'

BRAD 'Jeez there are limits you know'!

Yes i'm a victim too...yesterday after seiin' for the 10th time "The Sand Pebbles" i had this thought of adding some US navy to my collection..today i'm a little more sober but..that thought is always present...help requested..

WWII, CRIMEA, NAPOLEONICS, old glossies, you name it, great ranges, fortunately or unfortunately for me, no more room for these...

I looked at my addiction square in the face a few months ago and downsized everything except for the Crusader range which is all I collect now. I believe I have the "monster" under control. I keep telling myself that. The $350 I have spent so far this month on duplicate figures was a necessity to man the walls of my "Fall of Acre" diorama. Oh, and the Dept. 56 Village of Bethlehem pieces I just got are for at least two more dioramas I want to create. And the Pegaso figure was just a gift from a good friend - never mind all the primer, paint, brushes, that a "first timer" like me had to buy to complete it. Did I see that K&C is retiring more Crusaders? Got to get extra figures of those pieces before they are all gone. The K&C Roman gate would work well in a diorma - I think I'll get that. JG Miniatures has new desert scenics with some really nice looking desert shrubery - definately need that. More, more, I need more. No I don't - Yes you do. No I don't - Yes you do. Oh what the heck, my name is Mike and I have an addition for Crusaders . . .

Ive been fortunate to have the will power to stay strictly with the War Between the States. But every now and then I take a long hard look at Napoleonics and WWII...

It is very hard to stay in control with your desires of the little men ! ;) I have really tried to behave on Ebay too .... all these figures and vehicles going on sale for great prices - must keep telling myself - you have no more room Ron ! You have no more ROOM !

Can Shannon set-up a selfhelp forum, for all of us collectors who have no self control when it comes to toy soldiers? Maybe our fellow collectors have found ways to control their toy soldiers collecting habits, which may be helpful to other collectors.

Hopefully, my health insurance would cover any treatment?

I do not know if I am willing to take the first step and admit that I have a problem.

Well,
interesting topic. I am torn right now, my true love is the "war of northern aggression" (That ought to start a new war right now!@!) Just kidding. Seriously, I have an outstanding K&C WW 2 collection, but I am torn as it takes up a lot of room and resources. I have been slowly eliminating some duplicates over the last many months, still quite a few to go including a Greif and an 88. I find myself in the same pickle of having too much to display. I also like the Figarti masterpieces.

It is choices and especially with the new stuff at such a high cost, it is just not sustainable. I might wittle down to only the Desert and an airfield and a few show pieces (WS15, 25 and 43, I like Wittman!) I have successfully sold almost all of my LAH with a few rarities left.

I also love all things Trophy and due to their uniqueness, they are more fun to display!

I still love looking at K&C though.

This reminded me of a post from sceic2 a long time ago:

Twelve Step Program for King & Country Collectors (The TRUE road to recovery)

Step 1.
Admitted you are powerless over the missing King & Country military miniatures in your life and that your life has become unmanageable without them.
Step 2.
Believe that a Power greater than yourself (Andy) can restore you to sanity and provide the needed King & Country military miniatures to complete your collection.
Step 3.
Make a decision to turn your will and your life (and all your available cash) over to the care of Andy, as you understand him.
Step 4.
Make a searching and fearless inventory of your King & Country military miniatures and the missing pieces to make the collection complete and restore you to sanity.
Step 5.
Admit to Andy, to yourself, and to another human being the exact nature of your collection.
Step 6.
Be entirely ready to have Andy remove all the defects in your collection.
Step 7.
Humbly asked Andy to remove the shortcomings in your collection.
Step 8.
Made a list of all the King & Country military miniatures in your (and others) collections that you have harmed by careless handling, and become willing to make amends for your actions by repairing or replacing them.
Step 9.
Made direct amends to other King & Country military miniature collectors whose miniatures you have harmed wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or their collection.
Step 10.
Continue to take inventory of your collection and when you make an error, promptly admit it so that the collection and the inventory can be made whole.
Step 11.
Seek through meditation to improve your conscious contact with Andy, as you understand him, seeking only for knowledge of his talents for your collection and the power to collect.
Step 12.
Have a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps; try to carry this message to other military miniature collectors, and practice these principles in all your affairs.

My way to control soldier spending is to use it on trains, scale and 1/1 autos

I love those Chinese figures. Heck, I would collect practically every range out there if there were enough space and money. For those who like variety, which it seems you do, I think this makes a great approach. I have been thinking about something similar myself. I am thinking of a small, on the wall display of soldiers from different eras, ranging from Egypt and Rome through the Crusades and modern times. I would really love to set up a huge display of Egypt to go along with the figures, but like I said - money and space. I am thinking of buying a figure every month or two - kind of a figure of the month approach!!

You're not kidding Ron. I have bid on several items just because of the low price. Often I have second thoughts afterwards and hope I don't win the auction. When I do, I just bite the bullet and pay. I think the lesson is that it always pays to walk away and think first before acting.

I am the same way - but, what I have done now is make a bid on what is the limit for me on a "REAL DEAL" - then bid no more. That way if I get GREAT! - if not well ... Just wait for the next deal ! ;)

You are certainly not alone. Of course it is frustrating for a range you wanted to collect to be retired before you got to it but so it goes. Sometimes you just have to chose between depth and scope.;)

OK - So how many of you jumped at the chance to buy the first three - Luftwaffe figures ??

Another range in the collection
