I Am So Happy ! (1 Viewer)

How about some Dutch Lancers? Anyone want to see other British Cav besides Scots Greys, which are great BTW, but where is the rest of the Union Brigade? Don't tell me they are back at the depots looking for their plumes either:rolleyes::D.

I've said this before that I would like to see British light cavalry, either Light Dragoons or Hussars, to even up the balance somewhat.

At the risk of upsetting Ronald heres something i'd like to see.I'd love to see the French gun with whatever crew comes with it.But also i'd like to see a version with a crew either dead or trying to fight off the Scots Greys.I think this would make for a great dio or desktop scene. The Greys are so cool and i'd love to see them in the thick of it so to speak.I've seen some wonderful examples of action around Guns in UK Rebs superb dio's and i think it would work wonderfully for Naps too.Just a thought.:)

Just an excellent thought BTW. I like it, and I'm sure Ron will as well (to a certain extent).
It could always be balanced up for Dear Ronaldo by a Brit Gun with crew dead or fighting off the French Cuirassiers.
The Brits win of course.........even though they're dead (?)
 Hmmmm....time for some sleep.

Thank you Harold,i'm hoping Ron will like it.Although as he is only just accepting that Napoleon lost,it might take him a while to accept his cannon crew being put to the Sabre!!;).Only kidding Ron.:DI think Harrys idea of a British crew meeting the same fate at the hands of the French Cavalry would also be cool.

For the official record, I have a sizable Napoleonic toy soldier army, ( about 150 figures with ordinance )and love the historical period, as well as the pomp and circumstance of the uniforms, before all the blood and gore gets on them...BUT A BIG BUT, I cannot collect K/C's beautiful pieces ,because of the pricing...Like some. I go for 6 man marching sets and at least 4 - 6 cavalry of the same unit...I like displaying them up as a wargammer might...$50 for horse and $30 for foot breaks my budget and so ,most of my Nappy's belong to ebay bargain Frontlines and Mulberry Miniatures...Like Ron, I am a Bonapartist and do enjoy the conversation of the period..I generally do not post about this era, because most of you collect the K/C figures and I feel that I might not have any standing...Thanks,Michael

Although I do not collect the Napoleonics, or K&C for the reasons you also mention. I don't think it should deter you from posting in the discussions. The forum is to share thoughts, ideas, experiences and it's a shame that should feel that you can't contribute because you don't collect "this" or you collect "that".
I have noticed since joining, K&C seems to have a large following and there "greatness" likes to be crammed down our throats by some members. And then when I look at the new releases they seem to be ripped apart as quickly as they are released, the tires are wrong, his hand is pointing left instead of right etc...

Also I have noticed general posts being put in the K&C thread that all members could particpate in but may not because they do not collect K&C.

Shouldn't this just be fun, to each his own as I say. Am I really hurting anyone by not collecting K&C, Frontline, Conte etc. I don't think so.

Sorry for the rant and if the mods feel the need to move or delete this then that is fine.

All are welcome on this forum i'm sure, whatever their views and whatever they collect.I think that K&C Fans are allowed to express their enjoyment and support for the company here,i mean it is the K&C thread after all.It would be unusual to come here and not expect K&C fans wouldn't it?.And as long as those fans limit themselves to their appreciation of the company and refrain from personal attacks on others or their favourite companies, well then i think they have every right to celebrate the product surely.:)

Rob

Crusades or Naps, now that is the question. I have some crusade figures but have always looked admiringly at the Naps. Should I go and finish the Crusade range off or should I start collecting Naps? One must fall by the way side, which should it be?

You are so right ! This is the King and Country thread - so you will see people who really, really like K&C post their supportive comments here. :) If that bothers someone - they have the right not to come to the K&C thread - no one is forcing you ;)

But, the same goes for those you have questions and critical comments about K&C products - I usually don't agree with them - but, there again this is the place for that as well.

Everyone should be able to post whatever they think - 100% PRO KING AND COUNTRY (like me :D ) or 100% NEGATIVE KING AND COUNTRY (as we have seen in the past) - all are welcome.

Maddadicus - Just because you dont buy something doesnt mean you should not join in on the conversation about the products - WE WELCOME ALL NAPOLEONIC COLLECTORS :D

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

I agree

I have a few Scot Greys attacking a French Line now and a GUN CREW like the "Charge" would be great. And of course I like the idea of a Dead and Dying GUN CREW of British troops - that of course would BE THE BEST SET OF THE YEAR ! :D

Now Rob has upset me and I have to go and buy few more dead and dying Coldstream Guards to feel better. ;)

hehehehehe :p

I agree that this is the K&C thread. I enjoy looking in here (and all the threads) to see whats everyone is up to, what is new and generally have a nosey. I was just re-iterating what Michael had said as I was beginning to feel the same way.

Hello Michael

Any fan of Bonnie is always welcomed here ... please do not hesitate to share your thoughts and observations. Such discussions build and register interests and help us "lobbY', persuade, petition, cajole, convince Andy for more releases in the Napoleonics era.

Who knows ... as K&C's NAPs line expands and the choices & release styles vary, you could perhaps find youself inclined to ... "try a piece or two, to start with" .

OD :) :) :)

Some interesting comments here.

As for me, I prefer the middle road rather than be 100% positive or 100% negative. There are some business aspects of the company etc that I'm not happy with but they clearly serve their purpose as you rarely see K & C products selling below the RRP, so let's leave those issues aside as they have been discussed in the past.

I know there are some members that look on any members that make ANY critical comments as being somehow angry or disturbed but I suspect they are the people with the problems

Personally I'm just here to get a reasonable looking and accurate model at a fair cost. As the models are made from polystone I have never expected additional equipment such airfilters, lights etc to always be accurate or indeed on the vehicle. Therefore I have never made any comments about these things.

And the earlier issues such as painted windscreens and poor track/road wheel detail have largely been resolved which would have been the end of the negatives from me. Even the wrong colored vehicle wasn't a major problem for me, but it was worth mentioning and discussion.

HOWEVER, for some reason K & C have produced a few models that NEVER even existed. This seems a complete waste of an actual item that could have been put on the market as well as lost sales income to dealers. There are literally hundreds of prototypes that had combat service that have not been issued in model form, so why bother with these fantasy models.

Sure, they look cool and they have sold, but I KNOW they would have sold more and faster if they had existed. For example I recently bought a Figarti VI on launcher from overseas when I could have bought the Rammjager locally for less. And I'm sure I'm not the only collector that has done this.

As for the pricing of K & C. It's true there have been some increases, but these are in line with increased labor and production costs. IMO K & C still represent very good value for what you get. I admit that for those that like large displays and need to buy multiples then I have to agree that K & C are expensive compared to some other manufacturers.

However I mainly buy their WWII vehicle sets and these always come with figures. The FOB Kubelwagen set seems expensive at $95, but deduct three figures at over $25 each and you get a nicely detailed vehicle for next to nothing - that seems like a good deal to me ;) :D

Btw, if we continue to post our POSITIVE and NEGATIVE comments in moderate terms, we won't need those moderators. Just kidding Brad ;)

Scott,
That's not a rant, so why feel as if you have to apologise. Yes, there are dyed-in-the-wool K&C collectors who can't see anything bad about their favourite manufacturers products, and yes, there are also people at the opposite extreme here.
Someone posted some time back that they didn't like a particular new SOHK release cos he thought the colours were subdued. That's okay, he's entitled to that opinion just as I'm entitled to say that its one of my favourite pieces in our collection.
Overall, I think the vast majority of collectors are fairly easy going, are willing to at least listen to other points of view and really couldn't care less about the very small minority of self-opinionated members here who continually attempt to ram their own agendas and ideas down other peoples throats. These are the same type of narrow-minded creatures who demand that everyone else be in the same step as them, otherwise they can't be true toy soldier collectors...??? They'd have the same blinkered views if it was comics they collected.
So do please continue to contribute in the K&C section of this forum. I for one find your comments refreshing and to the point.
Best Regards
H

OK - OK

Enough of the What it means to speak your mind on the Forum in relationship to King and Country. I think we have said it all.

Now - lets get back to talking about American Revolution and Napoleonic figures that King and Country makes - which is the reason for the thread ;)

I am very hopeful that we will see Artillery all the way around in both AWI and Napoleonics.

K&C does great work with these sets and we need some more units in both ranges IMHO. :D

Seeing as artillery was such an important branch of armies in the eras we're considering then I'd have to agree with everything you say here Ron. ;)

Ron my friend (i'm actually laughing as i write this:D)you need to sit down pour a stiff drink and read on.If you needed to buy some dead Coldstream Gds following my last post, you are going to want heavy machine guns for your French inf for this!;)

In the summer Osprey are releasing there latest book 'British Napoleonic tactics'Heres what the intro says........

'The Britsh Army that faced Napoleon was small by continental standards, but it consistently out fought larger French Armies never losing a major open field Action'....

Put the rifle down Ron,slowly...move away from the window!:D;)

Just kidding mate, thought you'd like to know about the book(theres also French tactics released already,do you have that one?)

I am all for more Naps and AWI!

Last week, one of the huge furniture companies here went out of business and I bought a nice curio for my office at half price. I transported all of my K&C AWI and Alamo series figures here to my office. In addition to those, I brought my John Jenkins FIW figures here too. Everyone here in the office seems to really like the figures. They really go well with all of the Napoloenic prints I have up on the walls. Since I have so many K&C Naps, I keep those at the house.

How many of you that work away from your home during the day, have some of your collection at your offfice?

By the way, below is a picture of my first child, a daughter, that was born on February 27, 2008. I never thought my first child would come when I was 37 years old!!! We have named her Kayla Madison Pace. Her and mom are doing excellent. She was born three weeks early and weighed 6 lbs & 8 ozs. 19.5 inches long. She is my pride and joy. She is two days old in this picture taken at the hospital. She has been very alert for being born so early.
