I Guess it was a Premonition, or maybe, I was Dreaming about some Busty Frauleins, in a Medical Tent? HUH?

John,

For the umpteenth time - the M7 was not and never will be known as the Sexton!!!!!

The M7 was the "Priest" - nicknamed by the British in North Africa

The Sexton was a 25 pounder on a Canadian Ram chassis - MUCH TOO LATE for any action in North Africa.

Two completely different vehicles!

Gary

;) Hello Gary ! The Sexton according to my N.Africa Book Collection, has many Times shown Photo's, of a SEXTON used by the British 8th Army, in N. Africa! It was made in Canada and had a 25th Pounder Main Gun Mounted in/on Chasis! Just Quoting from what, was shown from my Desert War book Collection! Anyhow, NEED SEXTON or M-7 PRIEST, for N. Africa 8th Army?

I did a quick search and John, I'd defer to Gary on this one. This is what I found on the BBC:

This was an Anglo-Canadian design based on a Canadian version of an American tank. The Sexton I was a 25 pounder howitzer mounted on the chassis of a Ram tank, the Canadian version of the M3 Grant. The Sexton II was based on the Candian version of the Sherman, the Grizzly. Over 2000 Sextons were made from 1943 onwards, seeing service in Northern Europe.

True, they are different vehicles with different calibres. However it should be noted that the upper hull of the Sexton was based on the upper part of the M-7 and the lower half of the RAM was basically an M-3.

It wasn't a "premonition" John, it was the result of you having access to a computer after drinking 47 Bud Lights............
