I hate the new forum format (2 Viewers)

Just for the record, I hate the new forum format. It is hard to see which threads have messages, the colors are washed out, and it is overall more difficult to navigate.:mad:

Two thumbs down on the upgrade from me.:(
 
I am, however, happy that we all got demoted. It will be fun to look forward to promotions again. I think I need about 1500 posts to rejoin the generals club. I don't post as much as I used to, so I may be a colonel until 2012.
 
The color change on forums where there are no new posts for you to read and forums where you have read all the posts needs to be more definitive. I am only just now getting used to picking out the subtle difference in color.

I second this. I am technically challenged to start with. Change is bad. I can't figure this out, so far. It is no where near as easy to see what is going on from thread to thread. Not an improvement for me. -- Al
 
I agree 100%! If it ain,t broken don,t fix it!:mad:
I don,t like the white on white background and a lot of things don,t work like they used to and now I have to relearn how to use the forum.
The old forum had more contrast in the text and bold and small lettering which help you navigate easier and was better on the eyes.
I HATE THE NEW FORUM!!!:confused:
 
Just a terrible layout and a white background is a killer...nothing personal but very annoying to say at least :(

Ahem...as we've said, the colors are a work in progress. We could have waited to have it all perfect before opening it back up again, but we kinda thought you guys might want a forum sooner rather than later.

Every individual bar/background/border/etc has to be set individually for its color.

Patience, my friends!
 
It's entirely possible that the Reusses had no choice. Sometimes the developers roll out these changes and you are told they won't support the old version.

The dark green backdrop to posts is even worse . . . I will go blind trying to read with this backdrop. Pete, I understand this is a work in progress, so I will refrain from declaring my hate anymore, but I will continue to give constructive criticism, so please change the backdrops to the posts to a color far enough from the color of the words to permit for easy reading. Thanks in advance.
 
Yo Troopers, OK so its new but as yet not lighting my candles, but suppose it needs time. Cannot understand what has happened to my albums, half are in photo format and half in text format. Just noticed that the smilies are on BUT CANNOT FIND THEM lol.

I think its a bit severe to say I hate it. I think the format looks very good fresh and new. apart from the colour way of the background the green is better but blue writing does not help but, its early days and I am sure everyone is learning.

Its also remarkable how many people are concerned about demotions. The rank issue is a bit of fun nothing else unless its taken a wee bit more serious than it should. Its having a banter thats more important and, who cares whether your private or general it means nothing IMO

Ah, the old familiar refrain! As an IT professional, I've gotten used to hearing that one. And believe me, I'm no friend of developers. I make my living finding their mistakes.

But give it time. "I hate the new format" is just as good as one of my favorite quotes from "Lothar of the Hill People":

"That is a good idea, but it is a new one, and we fear it, so we must reject it!"

first off...I am so glad you have it back on...
secondly...I am glad you are open minded enough to consider the comments and hopefully reverse some color changes...
thirdly...I'll be patient...thanks for your efforts...

the old format was separated so nicely by color...these earth tones are a little difficult...

LOL! Just noticed the demotion. 1st Lt. again. I feel kind of fresh and reborn. Can't find the emoticons to express my mood, either. -- Al

Actually, it looks like the software and page are very similar to what Conny Schulte is using now for the HZ-Forum. His upgrade was occasioned by a hacker's attack, though, back in December. In restoring the forum, it made sense to upgrade. They still don't like big pictures over there, like we post, though ;)

I am getting used to it already and it is improving. My only concern is that it is painfully slow or is it just me?
 
I just got demoted from Sgt. 1st Class to Specialist.... What IS a specialist????:confused::confused::confused: Can we get an official list of ranks please? I need something to work for:D:D
 
I totally agree, I'm all for change, but there was nothing wrong with the forum, the colours give me a sore head!
