I hate the new forum format (1 Viewer)

If they changed it to this standard colour and size it would be awesome...............:salute::

What he said:salute::

1. Really liked the "old" look.

2. Change isn't always "better".

3. Pete, do us all a favor, go back to the previous scheme.

Pretty please?

I agree 100%! If it ain,t broken don,t fix it!
I don,t like the white on white background and a lot of things don,t work like they used to and now I have to relearn how to use the forum.
The old forum had more contrast in the text and bold and small lettering which help you navigate easier and was better on the eyes.
I HATE THE NEW FORUM!!!

I do like the new format (but old format was perfect) but agree with some of the other comments, I'm in my 30's with decent eye sight and even I'm finding the white background is making my eyes feel strained after about 10 mins, so have some empathy for some of the older guys on here.

Appreciate the efforts you've gone to on our behalf though Pete.:salute::

Hey Fish, Thanks, but you might have to wait a bit until I learn how to drive this thing. I even bothched up trying to reply to you off a quote and failed to get what I wanted. One thing is for certain, though I haven't been able to participate, I have been monitoring for 2 years, and I really like looking at everyones dios and your high on my list of the great ones. Pics Soon, but I'd better go read the tutorial from the "How To Section". But if you'd like to start me off in my forum learning skills, can you please tell me how to change the fonts/size/emoticons etc. from what shows up as programming code to actuality. It's got me stumped.

Cheers

Joe

Joe, when you reply to a post (and are typing your message) look to the right above the emoticons. There is a A/A button that you can click on. You can either view your reply in 'code format' or 'actual' format. In one mode it will show you the shortcut code, in the other it will show the actual smilie. Try it out :)

Peter, by jove, I've got it:salute::.
Many thanks Peter, and also thank you for the just received 3 Britains NAP 95th rifle back order. Life is good again.:D:cool:;)

All the best

Joe

I don't know if it's me but since this new hated format has been established there seems to be a lot more posting.^&grin:salute::

Sorry I couldn,t resist!
Hey Joe! Looks like Peter Hooked you up!with your ??? As far as Quotes in the post just look down on the right of the post your trying to quote and click on reply with quotes.

Now you just need to learn how to post pictures.
Your best bet is to get a free Photo bucket account because its hard to resize your photos with forum and most pictures will be to large to post.

Hey, Bromhead, I saw your albums, too. Albums are listed on the left side of the page, towards the bottom.

Prost!
Brad (other Brad)

I found things tho it still says albums removed at the same time they are in other places,,wonderful piece of change,,Im getting a bit weary of things tho that will please a few.

Its also remarkable how many people are concerned about demotions. The rank issue is a bit of fun nothing else unless its taken a wee bit more serious than it should. Its having a banter thats more important and, who cares whether your private or general it means nothing IMO
Mitch

I don't mind the demotion as long as they don't tie my wrists to one of those trinangular thingies and flog me.

I'm on plenty of different forums. Another forum I am on recently (about 4 months ago) changed to this format. Everybody hated it at first. Now everyone's okay with it. Oh and yes just like this one they had to make changes on the run.

Pretty soon you won't be able to remember the old format. :wink2:

Yeah, you're right. Now that Pete and the gang have worked all the bugs out, I've gotten used to it. I no longer hate the new forum format. Change is good.

Indeed.

Not too long ago the Wall Street Journal changed its format. I hated it at first. Now Im completely fine with their "new look" - in fact I dont even remember why I liked the old format. As Clint Eastwood said in that horrible movie, "Heartbreak Ridge": Adapt, Overcome. ^&grin

There are a couple of things I don't care for, but . . . yes . . . I'll survive even if they don't go away.

First, it's much more difficult to distinguish those posts you've seen from what's new.

Second, there's still too much noise. Sure, many of you enjoy sharing jokes, movie information, what you're reading, et cetera, but it makes it takes a lot of room. Perhaps we need nothing more thean to control ourselves . . . on the other hand, maybe many of you enjoy making it a "chat room". But one doesn't find this on other forums.

Last, I've yet to find an explanation for the pink and baby blue postems (is this a bloomin' nursery), but they seem to take up a lot of room, thus reducing the number of posts on a page.

That's it . . . but this still remains one of my favorite forums! Keep it up . . .

Al, these components have always been a part of this forum. Maybe get a mate to show you how to close these sections off. On the top right hand side of these sections is a little box with a little arrow pointing up [^]. Click on the arrow which will say "COLLAPSE THIS CATERGORY" and you won't have to see the other stuff you're not interested in. :)

You may have already had it set up this way but because the forum changed you may need to re-set it.

Good luck. Pete. :)

So do we all like the new format now things have settled down...............^&grin

Pretty cool with it. The only minor niggle I have, is when looking at new threads, the paperclip attachment icon is sometimes positioned over the last page box, so when trying to open the last page on a thread, I seem to inadvertantly open up the picture attachments.

Other than that, all working fine.
