Gentle Friends,

For years, I have resisted collecting Napoleonic figures. I am not sure why, but I think it has been simply because my collection is so eclectic that I was hesitant to start collecting a new line. However, a week or so ago, I was passing through a larger city and spotted an antique mall. I had some time, so I stopped to investigate the contents of the mall. While inside, I found a booth that contained numerous toy soldiers. They included Britains and Conte figures, among others. Then I spotted a lone K&C figure, NA45. I could not resist it as it is a beautifully detailed figure. I knew it was on the "being retired" list, so I purchased it and took it home.

After admiring the figure for several days, I felt compelled to contact the owner of the booth from which I purchased the figure. The owner informed me that he had four more K&C "being retired" Napoleonic figures which he would gladly sell me. I bought all four of them. They are equally beautiful!

Since I seem to be starting a new collecting endeavor, it gives rise to the following question: HAVE I LOST MY EVER LOVIN' MIND? I can't keep up with everything I already collect! What business do I have starting a new line? AM I CRAZY? Well, probably, but whoever said crazy people can't have fun?

Since I am expanding my collection in a new direction, I have several questions regarding K&C Napoleonics, which I will later post as separate threads.

Thanks for listening to the ranting of a crazy collector! :)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hay Pat,
Welcome to the club. I kind-of went through the same process late in 2005. One thousand K&C and Del Prado figures later... Well, you know the story. They really are the most beautifully done figures. I am avoiding ACW and ARW like the plague. I can't wait for my Grays and the new July releases. They look wonderful. I all ready have a small(?) display thoughtout for the Grays, the Highlanders, and the French Cavalry.

Michael,

Don't even talk to me about ACW figures! My collection is loaded with them. Regarding ARW figures, I will not even look at them on the dealer websites, because I know what will happen. I will lose all control and someone will have to put me away! And,...they would be correct to do so! :)

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Oz,

Your comment about "Charge it to your credit cards," is great fun! :D

Unfortunately, your comment strikes entirely too close to home to provide me with any comfort! ;)

Wellington,

I have tried for a decade to avoid the dark side. Now it seems I am making a shambles of my budget, experiencing a sense of being totally out of control, and laying awake at night wondering how I can save more money with which to purchase toy soldiers! Ain't it fun? :D

Warmest personal regards,

Wait until you see the devious schemes you devise once you are a member of the Dark Side. I just came up with one that "Freed UP" $1000 un-discovered by my wife. That should get me through all of the new Airborne stuff and beyond.................Alex

I'll go along with that....... All of this rhetoric is very funny, but True..What is it about us Collector and Hobby types...............Alex

I have resisted as Noli has and have no intent to turn to these. WW 2 is enough to keep me busy.

I'll stick with WWII also, but I admire Pat's courage...Alex

Welcome to the napoleonic maddness!:p Thank god i,ve managed to stick to just napoleonics so far. I,ve had my eyes on some cival war stuff and revolution stuff a few times and have managed to resist so far. Good luck with the napoleonics, there are tons of temptations out there K&C, britains, frontline, tinbay, miniwelt, historics, lots of plastics, kits ect.,ect. it just gos on and on. I like most 19th century military figures but i,m going to try and stick with my napoleonics for as long as I can hold out. When I do fall off the wagon its been with plastic figures so it hasn,t been to bad.
