Sorry to hear this. I had to say goodbye to my Rough Collie many years back, heartbreaking it really is.

Rob

and this was Duke. a real jerk of a greyhound who hiked with me up many a mountain trail, guarded me as we went, got me back to my car in the dark when i miss calculated how much light we had left in the day and about a thousand other great experiences.

we have another dog with us, but it's not the same.

The road to no-where is best traveled with a good friend.

One of the loyal few,,,my dog bud, always climbed the stairs while he could to be in my room with me,,until he couldnt any more,,the agony of having to send him on his way,I hope we can be together again,,loyalty is a hard thing to find

I have been there my friend, and I know how hard it is. I had to do the dirty deed years ago and it still bothers me. Sometimes I am ashamed, as we don't do this to people, but pets no one thinks it out of order in this society.

Hang in there, and remember the good times!!!!

SEMPER FI,

STRYKER

Can I also add my condolences. I came downstairs to find my 9 year old best friend Angus, gone. It simply devastated me - and this is my third attempt at replying to you - it's that hard to think about it. And this was over two years ago - and I have another Lab now.

Angus is still in my garden - and I tend the flowers where he now lies - and try to think of the fun we had.

They always remain in your mind - and when you're ready - do think about another pal. It helps - a bit! johnnybach

My condolences. Lost my Sally a few years ago and still am unable to get a new dog. Unreal how we bond with the critters.

Yes Wayne the 2 photos at the bottom of my post are our 2 new pups well I say new had them 18 months now, they are lovely & I love them to bits but they still won't replace my 1st two dogs, I grew up with the 1st one.

So sorry to hear about your loss mate, I too had to go through what you are 2 years ago, over the Christmas I lost my 1st Collie he was 16 years old & had a good inings! We had prepared ourselfs knowing it was coming but it still hits you hard when you have to say goodbye.
It made it even harder when two months later our second Collie also passed he was just 8 years old & was a terrible shock, the vets said it was cancer but I still believe he just couldn't live without his bestfriend.

Bob 16, black & white, Ollie 8, grey & white,

I do agree with what everyone here says about getting another, originally we wasn't going to but the emptness of the house & no one greeting you at the door when you got home is enought to help you want to go down the shelter & find someone new who needs your help, & in time they will love you & you them as much as your last.
