I need some new 1:32 ww2 news!!!!!!! (2 Viewers)

On April 21st of this year a mere 3 months ago you were singing the praises of the rebirth of Conte after one of his I'm back proclomations. What happened?
Gary

Nothing happened. (Except Pluvus Stalingrad Soviets)
You must be right Gary, the hobby is dead.
You will have to excuse me while I melt my collection down to make a plastic tombstone.

We know that plastic Viet Nam figures are coming from TSSD. There are also the high-priced Viet Nam figures from MARS. Paragon just released the ACW "firing line" perhaps not exciting, but at least it's something. I'm sorry that plans didn't work out for Austin or Cunnygham, they both made decent figures and had potential. For the WW2 guys like me it certainly doesn't help that FoV is dead along with 21C. Their vehicles and artillery spurred the release of more plastic figures.

Plastic figures are subject to the same old saying about hobby shops "You know how to make a million dollars making plastic soldiers? Start with two million!"

I have recently been converting the Austin Marines with TSSD and Conte WW2.
That has provided new figures.

Well as far as conversions go, I make lots of them, quite often better than originals but theirs nothing like anticipating some NEW figures you didn't make!
We still have ENGENEER BASS, PUBLIUS and (1:32) EX FORCE. I'm not sweating it, just a little spoiled, there were a tonne of WWII releases in the last two years. I NEED MORE!!!

Funny enough, so have I. I did a few this spring just to stay in practice and have been upgrading older Marx Marines, some Conte, some TSSD, and some of those 1/32nd copies of the BMC Marines. The Austin parts help move things along. We'll have to compare notes sometime :)

It's too bad that Expeditionary Force first WW2 sets went into their own size range. I was really looking forward to them as conversion donors. I am glad to see that the "someday" X-Force Pacific war figures are supposed to be more in line with other manufacturer's figures.

Just mentioning X-FORCES plans about the European scales bums me out.
Probobly the biggest toy soldier blunder of the past 3 decades.
I would have happily spent a fortune on the European theater.
In 2016 PUBLIVS gave us two WWII sets, Soviets in Stalingrad and Soviets in Berlin.
I'm greatful for that.

I like the sets Bassevitch/Publius make I just wish they would do some "Enemy" sets for the figures they produce.

Those two companies have a paitrotic obsession. (Where is spellcheck on this site?)
I agree, its too bad. Some AXIS would be great!

I NEED SOME NEW 1:32 WW2 NEWS!!!!!!!
I can't take the lull!

Ex-Fo gave us the Persian Chariot at the start of the year, then 2 sets of Zulus; Mars gave us the Russians, Afghans and Viet-cong, next they are releasing US Marines and Infantry;Paragon did set# of the ACW then they look to be releasing Alamo Mexicans and Plains Indians in September. Back to Ex-Fo for 3 sets of British and all told we should have around 17 sets in total for the Zulu wars from them (apparently this year, before they get on with the Napoleonics); TSSD will be releasing 2 Vietnam sets; LOD will have their chariot (great timing to go with the new Ben Hur film - not neccessarily a period match, but let's not be over fussy!), there's plenty from Russia if your budget can stretch to it and if you like to take the risk on the type of plastic Pvblius uses), then there are the Battle of Hastings figures, highwayman, Monk and Nun and also set #2 of the smugglers from Replicants with another possible surprise in September, and lastly (?) something new from Engineer Basevich in the offing. I don't think that that is too shameful a list. Have I missed anything?

I am vary happy for all of you who collect all mentioned periods above,
but my question is for the period of WWII.

Let's be honest, WWII has been done to death by just about everyone! Exactly what mainstream figures are missing and will sell in quantities enough for the bigger companies to at least re-coup there money? We have G.I.s and Germans coming out of our ears, there are British, Japs, Russians and Italians. There must be more plastic Shermans and Tigers than were actually built for the war! Of course, if you want the more obscure, why not invest in your own sculpts and tooling. It would be very interesting to follow a forum member's progress and you could keep us appraised of the pitfalls, highs and lows and how your sales are going?
I personally think it's great that we are seeing smaller manufacturers make lesser popular periods for those of us with tastes other than WWII, ACW and Napoleonic. Whilst I now only collect a very limited range of figures for myself, I am keen to see a wide choice of periods available for all.

Ah yes the colourfull and vivid uniforms of WWII covering the full scale of green or khaki

I understand ... I paint mainly antiquity, médieval, and all the armies from 1700 to 1900 with boring red, yellow, ping, orange, cream, gold and silver embroidery, boring flags with classic painting, and braidings, and buttons, and sashes and shiels, pavises and .... boring

:salute::

Just joking

That's easy; how about none.

I saw on another forum people rolling around on the floor, complaining that CTS may not continue with their Korean War ranges; they gave it a shot, they tried, they produced Chinese infantry and I don't think they flew out the door, so why continue to spend bad money after good as a manufacturer?

I sold a decent amount of the Chinese, but the vast majority of the people who bought them used them as WWII Russians.

Why do you think companies like Hat, Italieri and other mainstream, larger companies have gone dark on plastic 1/32nd scale figures; because the cost of producing them vs the profit you'd get in return do not add up.

Simple math, it is what it is.

The 1/72 offerings are enormous compared to the 1/32. Perhaps it's time to collect in a different scale.......

Lots of exciting WWII sets have yet to be released (Steve Weston), there were more exciting dimensions to WWII than just Gi's, Germans and British Infantry. Come on?!
Just because you may lack some imagination, it doesn't mean that other manufacturers have to follow in you're footsteps.
I like and buy you're figures but so many great WWII subjects could be produced, marketed and promoted.
