Alright guys just thought i would see what your ideas were for this years limited edition band?
Id love to see a band made for the Canadian Mounted Police, along with a pipes & drums band as an add on. You could have marching troopers & mounted troopers as add on sets also?
My other idea is for a Napoleonic era band of the 95th Rifles? well thats if they had a band then as im not sure when they formed one?
What do you guys think? hopefully we will find out at the Chicago show!!

I would like to see a band for an Indian Regiment like Hodsons Horse or Skinners. The mounted bands are great and though costly really make a srarement!

Craig,

as long as they look like Sharpe's Ragged Crew they'd be fine.... :)

Seroiusly though, you could have a modern day drum and bugle crops of The Rifles.... I recall seeing them here in Australia on an ANZAC Day Parade, 'marching' at 160 paces per minute.... phew, that was almost running !!!!

That would be good we haven't seen a mounted band for a while now! Id prefer a british regiment myself maybe the Scots Greys, Blues & Royals (Mounted this time) or a Hussar regiment?

That sounds fun to watch? Recently up at the Edinburgh Tattoo the Gurkha regiment did a very slow march that built up to almost a run! That was definitely something to see.
If the 95th Rifles didn't have a regimental band back in the Napoleonic era what regiments did? Id like to have a band marching along side my coldstream guards band but hopefully not in a red uniform? anybody got any ideas?

What about a mounted pipe band of the 17th Bengal lancers. I know its been done before but I reckon the quality of Britain's sculpts these days they could turn out a brilliant set

Cheers John

Craig,

From what resources I have of the Napoleonic era, I'd say that a reverse facing colour for the bands would be fine for British Infantry.

You must of course have Negro percussion ? players beacuse the 'powers that be' in those days, thought that they could hold the beat SO much better than thier European bandsmen.

Its the same with the Prussians and some other countries who had 'coloured' bandsmen.

See this set of mine that I have painted of the Potsdam Grenadiers, as set by Tradition of London, but now retired.

or try something really different,

A Gurkha Regiment pipe band would be great or a Light Div Reg Band would be also be VERY NICE.They could also do a series of bands that are no more.I wonder how many bands the British Goverment have put aside? All the Scottish Div regimental bands for a start plus most of the Armoured bands.I do love my bands.
Cheers

Yes something along these lines would be great John, I really like the older style of reversing the facing colours i had forgotten they did that!!! Maybe we could have my granddads old regiment the 29th worcesters done as a napoleonic band they had yellow facings & employed negro's as drummers aswell!

Im all for more scottish regimental bands Dave you no me!!! lol well anything with a kilt to be fair they always looks the part! How about the pipes & drums of the 1st Royal Tank Regiment or even better the Queens Royal Hussar (Queens Own & Royal Irish) pipes & drums? We have never had a Hussar band so a Hussar pipe band would definitely be different!

I think there was a Hussar band made for the WBCC Queens Jubilee series.

My vote is for a glossy Household Cavalry mounted band in the gold tunics, and I would like it so the figures could be purchase in multiples. The last lifeguard set was a two box set purchase and as one of the boxes had the bandmaster and the drumhorse 1 set could only be purchased.

I stand corrected Scott lol id completely forgotten about the jubilee series! Ive got the Lifeguard set you mentioned very nice set but like you say with set 1 having the bandmaster in it you could only really buy 1!! An updated set would be nice maybe split into 3 or 4 different boxes.
