Identifying Toy Soldiers and Moulds "BM and PB" ? (2 Viewers)

Nice looking figures, as always.

There are a couple of other moulds with knight bits in them that I haveyet to cast. Once I have sorted through everything and worked out what goes with what I will be making them available as kits and I am happy to supply spare parts from the kits for other conversions.

These moulds are a little easier to work out the contents of than the Agincourt moulds which I need to get the original display figures for (hopefully get them in the next week or so) so I can work out which moulds contain which parts for each of the 8 knights.

Must be like trying to put together several jig-saw puzzles - without the box with the picture on the lid, Mike. ^&confuse

Glad to hear that you will make parts available too. Much as I love the old Selwyn-Smith figures - and converting them - I think that I'm now getting to the point of just about having done most things I can with them - so some different castings will be most welcome.

So glad you've resurrected the Company, Mike - and these warriors will once again be available to painters like us.

Best wishes for the future - I'll be in touch - once you've sorted them all out. jb

Yes, it is a little bit like that, and not knowing which pieces came from which box... :)

I am extremely busy at the moment but when things quieten down I should have time to devote a couple of days to sorting them out...

I've been looking through my references but haven't found any maker yet that could be "BM and PB".

Prost!

More chance to spin some moulds today as part of a casting run. Here are the results for some more knight moulds:

knight1.jpg

More horse and horse head variants.

knight2.jpg

Dead horse and a couple of piles of dead knights.

knight3.jpg

This third one includes a weapon rack and a stand with helmets and shields - I assume the 6 parts go together somehow to form a display piece? Haven't worked it out yet - the top piece didnt quite cast completely.

knight4.jpg

Another knight body, head without helmet, shield and other bits and pieces. The horse base is on the left.

Anyone recognise anything here?

And another Napoleonic Command figure- a drummer. The Napleonics are "true" 54mm being 54mm to the top of the head.

Martin Tabony hasn't spoken up yet about this puzzle. I'd bet that as someone who has sculpted and cast, and worked with other makers, too, he might be able to identify them.

Prost!

I don't really know who made the Knights, Mike - but some of them look like they might have been intended to be multi-part kits???

There is one person I know of who sells kits, which reminded me of yours - and that's Matthew Thair of Whitetower Miniatures. He designs some of his own figures - and I think also uses some parts on licence from Replicants. I know - because I've bought some from him.

I believe he has his castings made up by Tradition.

Now, MAYBE - just maybe, these are some prototypes which never made it into production????? But....................I'm really guessing here, as I've never seen the ones you have shown before. jb

The dead horse looks familiar(not just because I spend a lot of time flogging then :) ) It may be worth going through some old toy soldier mags, to see if you can match the initials with ads or reviews.

Yep, I'll keep wading through the stacks till I can match them.

Prost!

There has been a suggestion that the knights might be from "Prince Bishop" who were around in the middle of the 1990s... The one photo of a knight I have been sent from an American magazine does look similar, but if so, then there are some moulds missing for things like spectators, etc....
