As we are in a new product lull awaiting all the new Britains goodies, I was interested what fellow collectors would want to see as the next big campaign series beyond existing ones such as Zulu Wars, ACW, War on the Nile etc that Britains should undertake? Would you want to see a completely new campaign series that has not been done before or maybe borrow one that other manufacturer have already done but you think Britains could do it better. I am not really up to date with other manufacturers as the only other collections that I have are the retired corgi 1/50 forward march and britains deetails.

I am also curious if others collectors utilize other toy soldier manufactuers since they offer different lines from Britains or use them to complement gaps in Britains existing productline. For eample, I have used little legions to supplement Britains in terms of a latrine for my Rorke Drift diorama and maybe an ARAB DHOW for Christmas to keep my sudan gun boat from getting lonely. lol

I am having trouble keeping up with what I already collect without anymore series being added.

Having said that I think a Streets of Victorian England would be a good idea or maybe an Egyptian theme. I think they would make a good job of these.

No interest in new lines. Just want more ACW, there are many gaps to fill, cavalry, limbers, etc., on which Ken is hard at work. :smile2: I use FL and JJD to augment my WB dios. THey are same scale and similar in poses, painting, etc. Chris

Fredericksburg civil war figures and maybe an "Art of War" from Fredericksburg. ^&grin

If I were Richard Walker for a day I would immediately log onto this forum, announce the highly anticipated and much sought after modern warfare line consisting of a US Army Bradley, Hummvees and assorted troopers. I would also acknowledge the pure genius of Currahee Chris to the world for suggesting this wonderful line, ensure that every prototype be mailed to him and kick him a generous portion of the proceeds for such a great idea. {sm4} {sm4}

Its a crying shame that Ken Osen has not or is not?..working on a line of Vikings.
Ken sculpted the best ever Vikings and Normans for Conte years ago.....any Saxons/Normans/Vikings would get my cash! :wink2:

All the well known subjects are being handled already by the manufacturers, little room to move these days. They could still get the jump on others with say Robin Hood or the French Foreign legion. The 7th Cavalry is one my favourites, perhaps not as a big scope, but I think they have done these in plastic. There is some more room in their current series of Zulu, WW1 & Durbar to keep me poor. Cheers, Robin.

I would stop all current lines and begin afresh with new actions. The first would be The Nek. I might then bring out a Lone Pine range. Thirdly a Chunuk Bair range. Then maybe a Suvla Bay range and perhaps finally a Lancashire Landing's range. I think that provides enough alternatives to keep everyone happy!

And then I got to thinking. WB have done a 1914 range. They're currently doing a 1916 range. K&C have done and are doing a 1917 range and Thomas Gunn are doing a 1918 range. I can't help but think there is a year missing and surely something must have happened during it.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I am into the ACW. I have used other companies to help My several dios. I would like to see Britains come out with the American Old West and an American Indians Series to help accent.

Once I leave the Natal behind (I keep saying that but britains keeps me coming back for more - but still would like some horse troops for Isandlwana if anyone is listening) I will be doing the fight for the bridge at Arnhem. So I guess I am suggesting operation Market Gardens. I am still upset at Corgi (but not Ken or Richard) for not doing their arnhem dioramas but that is a story for another day. I can already hear the peanut gallery saying why don't you simply buy K&C? I think Britains could it do it better and it could be economically feasible. The biggest downside would be others have first mover advantages and not sure if Britains wants to do armour/vehicles anymore? It would have mass appeal similar to Rorket Drift, Zulu dawn due to a bridge to far. In addtion, the selection of soldiers are enormous with 4 para groups including poles, XXX Corp and a range of german units plus fun pieces including gliders and structures etc. Most importantly it would satisfy Britains two largest markets being the US and UK. Now saying all that -maybe Foreign Legion with fort and the successful remake of 4 feathers would be interesting too per villagehorse comments...Other thoughts would include dunkirk and magniot line but they would likely not have commercial success appeal.

With my serious hat on (rather than my 'Make me Gallipoli...NOW!' hat) I was trying to think of gaps in the market. One that sprang to mind but probably with limited appeal was the English Civil War. Couldn't find this being done elsewhere.

The French Foreign Legion is the obvious one but I see Conte will be releasing some figures in due course but (and it is only MY opinion) I just do not find Conte figures that pleasing to the eye. The FFL are not really my thing but even I might be tempted by a WB FFL range, so long as they were clad in their Beau Geste style uniform.

I think Black Hawk have done some really good stuff when it comes to the West and Little Bighorn and their new Native American range looks very good indeed. Again, if you do like Conte their doing a Tombstone range. The West could be a big seller.

Would love to see WB bring out a Mk I Tank (or even two - a male and female) to accompany their Somme range.

Of the lesser know conflicts that may provide some interest but, if I'm honest, probably not enough to warrant consideration is the last stand made by the Shangani Patrol in 1893 against the Matabele.

I personally would just enjoy seeing some of the existing lines further fleshed out. For example given that I mostly collect only Naps, I would love to see a variety of other figure poses such as different marching officers, sgts, fifes, etc to complement my marching displays. It would also be nice to see behind the line sets such as camp set ups and camp followers. I would also love to see some new artillery, and wagons such as ambulances, or supply wagons, and maybe even Napoleon's campaign carriage. I'm sure some of these things are coming as the Waterloo campaign continues to grow bit by bit. I recently took the plunge and started collecting a few of the AWI (despite my saying I would stick only to one era!), so I look forward to what direction this line will go as it grows.

OK!!!.....I would make a whole truckload of ACW figures covering the winter campaigns!!...as yet a virtually untouched area. And the suggestion of the Old American West is a great idea!!!!.

If I was Richard Walker for a day......I would have to do the Plains Indian Wars, starting with the Little Big Horn campaign. W.B. has done such a outstanding job with Isandlawana and Rourke's Drift that Custers last stand would make an awesome range! Think of all the personality figures that could be done just like the above mentioned. I would even have a model of the Steamer Far West made!

I would create a serie called Battle of Camerone:: forign legion against mexican troops and my wife and my bank {sm3}will kill me

I still think there's a lot more to come from iSandlwana, at least I hope there is. For me a Charlie Pope figure is really what I am awaiting from this range and then the absolute must have is Reggie Younghusband, who for me has always been and will always be the most mythical character of the entire battle. I think we still need a fair few more casualties from iSandlwana and a fair few more Zulus. I'm a stickler for historical accuracy! Figure 20074 is by far and away my favourite 24th figure of the entire range. To me that really encompasses how I imagine the desperation of trying to save one's own life. Hopefully more such figures will come.

Just in case we do get our Gallipoli range I found these pictures depicting ANZACs in 28mm form. They've done a pretty accurate job for a smaller scale. The greyish, blue tunics on the left are particularly well picked up.
