If You Were Rich (1 Viewer)

I didn't ask you to tell me if my Thread was a waste of time...I asked everyone on the Forum if they had lots of money what they wouldn't collect or what they least liked, the reason I brought up money was because money and space seem tobe the reasons why we are limited to what we collect....Sorry Brad with all respect I don't think anyone should be commenting on whether someone's thread is a waste of time or not....especially a Moderator....If someone doesn't like it maybe they should move onto the next threat.

If anyone thinks my Threads are a waste of time... I'm sorry

Liebstandarte Adolf Hitler - the parade ground Nazi stuff. I don't have anything against anyone who wants to collect it, but I just won't have it in my house.

Ditto that,just my personal preference.:)

If i were rich i'd also do two other things.I'd pay a professional model maker to create me a huge square shape dio in sections, with each section being a WW2 theatre.I'd also buy K&C goodies for lots of people on this here forum.:)

It is certainly fun to have the option, of so many series to choose from. I remember when the yearly new releases were perhaps a dozen or so. For me its a matter of room, I had a nice collection of Ron Wall Civil War figures when he was the only game in town. I sold all but a few to another collector years ago. Now the wife just frowns when she goes into my den so I try not to look at to many of the "Other" series.

A year or so ago the wife went out and left a pot of eggs cooking on the stove.......she loves her egg salad. Our next door neighbor saw smoke coming out the window and called the fire department. The wife remembered she had left the pot cooking and rushed home to find several fire trucks in front of our house and the front door knocked off the hinges. She rushed inside to find three of our finest firefighters in full battle dress leaning over the rail upstairs outside my den, they told her everything was ok, just a little smokey. They told her she was lucky the fire had not spread to the neat stuff up here!

She thanks her copper bottomed pot and stainless steel stove.......when I arrived home hours later, everything was back to normal, except......."What the "$&@*#" happened to the front door"?

Moral is always keep the wife happy!:D

A happy fun story of our tax dollars at work. Could have been a real disaster. Glad there was no real damage.

Brief SFFD story. My uncle was a captain in the FD. No kid is exempt from the mystique of matches . Long story short My uncle hears the call and goes home to see one of the FDs' finest chopping away at his door. Said finest sees Mike and sayz "Aw geez Mike is this your house?" My Uncle replies in the affirmative. The guy puts his axe down opens the door and walks in:p

:p Not nearly as much fun that way.

Sorry, poor choice of words

K&C does seem to have many fine lines to choose from, wish I had started sooner but if I could catch up all at once I would like to start with the Romans/Barbarians, Crusaders/Saracens and Napoleonics. That would make a right fine check:D

I doubt I would ever get to the Christmas collection, China or Special Forces. I do have a number of WWII warbirds so I guess I would have to add some of their very nice WWII ground collection but it would be further down the list. I would add their Zulu War if they had one but there are many fine other options there for sure.

With the cold touch of reality, I just hope I can get to some of the priority items before they are retired.

Getting the priority items before they are retired, couldn't agree more. That for me is half the battle.

Maybe you can auction off the warbirds and pay for the rest of the stuff you want.:D

LOL, sounds like you have been talking to my spousal unit.:D That is a fine suggestion but apart putting aside the difficulty of letting things like that go, none of those are very rare and most are 1/72 or 1/48 which wouldn't make enough of a dent to matter much. The few 1/32s I have are Spitfires and they aren't going anywhere.

I need to know how much we are talking here? I mean if its a measley million or two I would say I would have to focus on WWII stuff. But if we are thinking ungodly amounts of money then I would have to say I would make a proposition to Andy to buy his company so I could make whatever I wanted, lol. Would love to see something from Alexander the Greats Time! Who knows with that kind of money I might start collecting real WWII tanks like in the tv series "Tank Overhaul."

Tank overhaul sounds cool is it on pay tv or just a show thats been shown on yank tv.We may get it down under in a couple of years when they bring in colour television.Simmo.

If I were rich then I would have a showroom warehouse built and collect all the ranges.

I Would Collect Every Item Made And Have My Own Shop On The Side To Keep Me Busy As A Dealer...of Course That's Only If I Were Rich!!:)....sammy

If I Were A Rich Man,
Idle, Idle, Idle, Idle, Idle, Idle, Idle - Ummm.

Yeah, that Fiddler on the Roof had the right idea.....:D:D:D

For me part of the appeal of collecting is you cant have it all, as a kid I
remember putting deetail soldiers on layby and paying them off and the thrill of getting them . But if I was rolling in dosh
As George Best put it
"I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered."

Have seen this on the History channel a few times now.If memory serves they rebuild a Sherman,Panther,Comet and Hellcat.Very interesting prog, these are seriously dedicated people who can spend years on these projects.

If You Were Rich With Unlimited Room.....would You Collect All The Ranges ...or...is There That One Range You Just Don't Like? Or Maybe Better Put Is There A Range You Least Like...

Wellington

I'm interested in all military history and would buy most of the King & Country ranges except for the 'Imperial Collection' and 'Streets of Old Hong Kong' sets.
