I started painting these figures about 25 years ago and recently unpacked them to finish them. They represent drummers and fifers from a Massachusetts regiment.

excellent painting......
I still have my IR figures packed away somewhere. You have inspired me to find them and update the painting I did over 30 years ago!

Hi There,
I still find I&R figure kits when I rummage through boxes. These were great figures and when painted as larger groups they made impressive displays. It is always nice to see collectors still painting these... and I fully understand the large gap in time between starting and finishing them.
A few years ago I finally got around to finishing a building that I started when I was in high school. It took a deadline to make it happen and now is part of a diorama I built for Michigan Toy Soldier. That's only 30 years of dwell time on various work benches!
Thanks you for showing us your field music display. So is there a drum major or officer in the works too?
All the Best,
Ken

Nicely done, Scott! Is that the "Alliance" cockade I see on their hats?

Imrie-Risley figures are excellent material for us do-it-yourselfers, and Scott shows the results you can get. I recommend them, you can find unpainted kits on the secondary market, but they're also still manufactured today. Just go to I/R's online store, the Saratoga Soldier Shop, website http://www.saratogasoldier.com/

Again, well done, prosit!

I would love to find those figures.Could soneone point me in the right direction?

Um...please see my previous post. You can order the figure kits online directly from Imrie/Risley-they use PayPal now, too. There's also a lot to be found on the secondary market, especially on eBay and at toy soldier shows.

Prost!
Brad

Hi Baron,

Yes I did try to paint the Alliance Cockade on the hats. I was trying to show the later war uniform regs. for Massachusetts. We can't be totally correct about what they wore because the regs were written but you have to find paperwork stating that any unit actually got the clothing or eyewitness accounts of the units.

I have 6 British Musicians in the works as well that were started back then as well.

There's a new project! I'll have a look at what the OLD GUARD's Drum Major wears or locally the Drum Major of the re-enacted 4th Middlesex Regiment looks like. Thanks for the idea.

Scott

......... mixed up with the duel impression unit, 85ème Régiment de Saintonge
and 4th Middlesex, Mass. Regiment of Foot.

Which did you see?

Top notch from what I remember. I used to work with one of the guys in it who also was in the French unit. There's a lot of cross-over in these groups.
