In my spare time... (1 Viewer)

Dear Mike,

Fantastic.....no other words for it!!!! I have put one together myself but not as close as yours in detials....It has a well also....Unfortunately I do not have the spare walls and corner towers necessary to provide it a perfect perimeter enclosure with adequate protection for flanking fire.....Pitty K&C is missing on all this opportunity to give us the means of building forts ourselves.....Attaching a few pics so that you can have a flavour of a fort like yours once the tenants move in....:cool::cool::cool:

AC...thanks for the compliment...I have always enjoyed viewing pics of your massive FFL collection and Desert building fortifications...

I like the way you blended the ramp into the base, very neat. Stealing some ideas from you Mike now. :wink2:, Robin.

Robin...thanks for the comment...

Mike,
May I ask what you use to 'plaster around it'.............
Wayne.

Wayne...I use either of these products singularly...but mostly a mix of the two...

one is textured...with grit in it...dries rock hard...

the other is smooth...no grit in it...dries hard also...but with an almost elastic texture...

mixed together...

3 parts smooth...1 part textured...
then put on with a paintbrush or small putty knofe...
dries hard and mostly smooth...
then lightly sanded to remove most of the grit...

just experiment with either one separately or together...you will get different results...

Already discovered that brand isn't found in OZ :rolleyes2: I'll find something no worries, saying drywall to hardware people here you just get a blank look, we call it plaster-board.:wink2:

how about "sheetrock"...^&grin

doesn't matter...just ask for stucco patch...one that dries rock hard...

don't use spackle...I think it dries too soft and will dent...

...we call it plaster-board...

We do, too. Drywall, sheet rock, plasterboard, gypsum board. It often depends where you are in the country. By any name, it's messy as all get-out when you're cutting and installing it ;)

Prost!
Brad

Mike,

I found a new material to mess around with...WEDI-BOARD...it is used in showers....hurricane and water proof. Easily cut. Various thicknesses. I used it as a base for concrete counter tops. Doing more experiments with it. Will be using it at my new house build.

Later,

John...I watched them retile my shower once...is it in big sheets that look like cement...maybe 1/2" to 3/4"...that the tile is adhered to as a barrier to repel the water from your interior wall?

Mike,

Cementious on the outside...foam on the inside...very lightweight. Google it brother you will see that you can adhere anything to it. Stucco, thin set, concrete...what have you.

John your neighbor

John...

I just googled it...cool product...

so.......the thin layer over the foam...is it cement...or something similar...I looked at some pics and read about it...

I think it's a newer better product that replaced the concrete sheets that were underneath my shower wall tiles to prevent water penetration...

I'll look at some at Home Depot next time I'm there...

good Lord...

they are using this for sub flooring...shower wall interior...exterior water preventative...everything...

lets buy some stock in it...^&grin

I bought a stock called IBTGF...a penny stock...

they make flame retardent treated wood for home building...I thought it would the "next thing"...

it's worth less pennies per share than when I bought it...^&grin

Doh!!!

Mike,

It comes from Germany! Just like BMW, those expensive *** vacuums (we have one the animal) and now this stuff. They don't sell it at Home Depot I got to go to a specialty shop here in SA to get it. I got a piece donated to me by a contractor to "play" with and boy did I. I was able to cut it with ease for our purposes in concrete, but then it dawned on me....

MIKE MILLER WOULD REALLY DIG THIS STUFF MAN

Plus, we are going to use it at our house. Type in WEDI BOARD in Google then hit "images"...various thickness, uses and you can do RADIUSES.

Mike I love the Sphinx you got online...do you have another one?

John over on I-10

I saw the pics online...the guy was cutting it with a utility razor knife...you should save all your scraps when finished...^&grin

no...I don't have another and don't remember where I got that one...somebody just bought that one on Ebay a few minutes ago...

Mike,

A fantastic job!
Wish we had more of these available in the market ....... I would love to have a proper depot for my FFL Battalion...:salute:::salute:::salute::
