In the Time of the Pharaohs... (1 Viewer)

Makes me want to concentrate & double my effort when I see your photos. May have to resort to sand yet, what are you using Mike to cover the bases? {sm0}, Robin.

thanks Chris...thanks Robin...

and yes...it's just plain old sand from our golf course bunker...

Thanks Mike, hoping you were going to say plastic sand, not sure whether I like using real sand over my expensive figures. Really think by covering the bases that you do, just adds more attention to the actual figure and highlights how good they are. Keep up the great work. Robin.

HI Mike,
First let me say how amazing is your display.
Second We're did you get the 2 small busts from.
Have seen them before.

Robin...I bake my sand in the oven on a cookie sheet...350 degrees about 15 minutes...it dries it out and seems to bleach it a little...it's gets bone dry...then I sift it to remove any debris...I wouldn't recommend a long term display with it...but I have used it for years for pictures and it doesn't damage the figures...

Vinod...thanks...I bought them on Ebay...they had a felt bottom and were black...I made the pedestals and platforms out of Hirst Art bricks...primed them in gray...hot glued them together...then painted them a sand color...

Thanks Mike, I finally got around to opening my plastic sand from JG and tried on one base, seems fine. Your sand efforts inspired me to try this somewhat messy aspect, but your attention to detail says I should try harder. I am already encroaching on too many area's in the house, heaven help if I start using the wife's stove to cook soil. Love what you did with the statutes, but too hard for me, best I can do is buy them off Ebay.{sm4}, Robin.
