Don't think they were in the desert theatre from memory. Early war use in france and, some in russia. I recall something about 88mm mounted guns in Italy also but, not sure if it was this exact format, the germans adapted guns on a few carriages. will have a look at some references later and get back to you

From memory, there were only 12 of these made. 6 saw action in France in 1940 and they later went to Russia for Barbarossa. I think the last one was destroyed in early 1943.

But the Germans mounted 88s on other halftracks later on. As far as I know, none of the 88 halftracks went to North Afrika.
