I recently sold a Figarti storch on ebay to a guy in Canada. I never take out insurance but this time I did due to the fragile nature of Figarti products.
Sure enough I get an email from the buyer stating a wheel was broken off at the axel. At this time all he asked was what glue I used to make repairs. I replied, however I made no mention of the insurance.
If I hear back from him what do I do relative to using the insurance? My main concern is that I will get a complete run around from the post office with negative results.

Hopefully he will go with the dab of Superglue or Crazyglue ! Otherwise he could always pay for return shipping, you get the damaged item back and you file an insurance
claim with the post office.Takes several weeks to get your money from them.

Having fixed lots of Figarti the wheel may have just come loose as the glue is as strong as the paint they use!!! if its snapped then I would make a claim if he makes a song and dance about it thats what the insuarance is for. If its just come loose which, is likely then a simple repair and that should be the end of the matter

And Gary if he sends it back send me a PM im sure we could come to some kind of a arrangement.

Let's say the gentlemen from Canada returns the item in question back to Gary. How does the claim work? Does Gary just provide pictures of the broken piece and does he get a full claim refund plus being able to keep the broken item with a chance it can be repaired?
I'm asking because I've never had to submit a claim either. And no I'm not the Canadian in the middle of this transaction.....:p

Until he submits a claim which doesn't sound like it, I wouldn't worry about it that much (easy for me to say). However, since you presumably shipped it USPS, I'd check their web site.

I had to file a claim once for an exquisite russian piece sent to me from the USA (to Canada).
Figure was damaged badly and I got a quote to repair it locally which exceeded the amount of money I paid for it
So we sent pictures of the figure before and after, copy of invoice and copy of quote from my painter
and they gave me full refund for the figure.. and I actually kept it (seller told me to do so) and got it repaired

Gary:

I had one partial damage of several sets USPS Insurance claim situation for sale to England. For USA shipments either the buyer or seller can file claim for USPS Insurance payment. However, for non-USA shipments only the seller in USA can file a claim. In my case, it took about two months or so, but there were no problems in getting the full payment on the claim. Insurance claims for USA shipments would go much faster as USPS does then not have to contact another nation's postal service for information from the buyer.
