I guess right now the US market must be the biggest for K&C. But I suppose the European one has a lot of potential, which K&C seem to acknowledge. The European Union is not a single country, but it does have a single currency ( apart from the UK ), lots of population, buying power, no customs taxes between us, and a lot of interest for the hobby. On the down side, there aren't as many internet dealers as in the US ( I know of dealers in Italy, Holland, France, Spain, a few in the UK, but only one or two provide service comparable to Treefrog Treasures ). And the Internet itself is more developped in the US than in Europe I guess. It's simple things like this: here in Portugal I must pay for the Internet, which someone told me is free in the US. Is this true? And I believe the Internet is an explosive multiplier for the hobby, to say the least.
Now, I'm curious. How many non-US members do we have in this forum? I think we have people from Ireland, people from Canada, people who came from the land down under.... of course there is the language factor: if you´re French or Portuguese, like me, it gets a little harder, but well, today on the net you got to speak at least a little English ( pardonnez moi les Français... ), even if poorly like me...

Best regards,
Paulo

Hi Paulo I'm in the US in Georgia (southern state) but I'm from New Jersey (state of mind!) and returning there soon! Here we have to pay to access the internet. Ther internet itself is free but your provider in my case a dsl line charges you a fee. Its not to bad and it opens the world to your market place. I sell antique toys on ebay and in 7 years I have had over 1400 customers many from all over the world. China, Australia, Europe & even Joisey (New Jersey).
Nice to meet you.

Thanks for your information, that's also like that here in Portugal, a fee for the internet provider. By the way, I live in Almeirim, but I'm also from somewhere else, Lisbon that is, and I guess I also have, at least partly, a Lisbon sate of mind... Nice to meet you too.

Best wishes,
Paulo

Paulo,

I think your English is pretty good. No need to apologize. I wish I could speak Portugues as well as you speak English.

Hello. I lived in europe for a year, back in the 1980's, and I must say that the nicest, friendliest people I met in europe were the Portugeuse. I met a history and archeology professor from the University of Lisbon on the train in from Spain, and he was friendly, gracious and extremely helpfull. He recommended an excellent place to stay, a couple of really terrific restaurants, and invited me to visit an archeological dig in a Roman cemetary outside Lisbon. Everyone I met in your wonderful country seemed genuinely kind and helpful. I am glad that our forum encompasses people from all over, including lovely Portugal. And by the way, your English is excellent.

Brad,
Thanks, that's nice of you. It's a privilege reading your posts and being a part of this forum. The post about your aching wallet ( bro, can you spare a dime... ) really made me laugh, not just giggle, laugh like in thunderstorm... Maybe I should be crying instead...

Louis,
Thanks, you're the one who's really nice. It's a privilege reading your posts and being a part of this forum. I'm glad you liked Portugal, if you visit again it would be my pleasure to help you or recommend places.

Dear Paulo,

I will definitely take you up on that at some point. This summer, however, I am planning a trip to Scotland. If you ever get to New York, I will be happy to have you to dinner at my club, show you around the City, and introduce you to all the local collectors.

Warmest regards,

Louis
