Into the dusty blue yonder... (1 Viewer)

Well, I didn't last long. Just caved in and ordered one. So, I would perhaps have preferred an AVG version, but this RAF desert version is a thing of beauty, and I have no other desert planes. The more I stared at it, the more my wallet started edging out of my pocket. I really don't expect to regret this decision.

Exactly the same here, I don't any desert aircraft so this is new territory for me but I think I'm going to be a very happy bunny when this finally lands on my doorstep, I wonder if it means there are more desert RAF figures to follow?

I hope we get some desert pilots eventually! Never managed to get my hands on one of the Special Event Desert Pilots from last year!

Well I just folded like you knew I would (^&grin) and reserved one from that true gentleman Sir Mike Neville. I was wobbling yesteday but after studying the plane and then reading the obituary of Neville Duke I was sunk. so I'm in.:smile2: Now where did I put my sand goggles?!{bravo}}

This P-40 is IMO certaily one of the most apealing polystone warbirds K&C made to date. The painting seems superb, I can only imagine how it looks once in your hands... I am confident K&C will expand its RAF series into more desert items; this plane just can't have no crew to support it! I do collect AK and EA, but did't buy the ME-109, and just placed a pre-order for the P-40...

Well guys, thats five of us ordering, 245 to go!^&grin:wink2:

Rob

Rob..

I wondered how long it would take you to buy this brit P40!!!!
Mitch

I just can't get the image of the Marseille 109 paired up with the Duke P-40 out of my head...

If any of you are deliberating between this or one of the T 34s, I'd choose this. It should be an easy choice. I happen to have the Wood version they did and it's my favorite Warbird. The Shark's mouth is iconoclastic. Those who don't get it will regret it later.

Perhaps this will lead to some Desert Air Force pilots as I have a few Desert Warbirds but no pilots for that theatre.

I agree Brad, I decided I wanted this more than a T34 but will also have the option at a later date of a winter version T34. Have no idea where I'm going to put it yet as I have a Spit,Hurricane,Typhoon,FW190 and ME109 all fighting for space in my office right now, better start hanging them from the ceiling{eek3}

The one theatre of WWII I've opted out of collecting has been the desert war ( you have no idea how much willpower that takes :eek: ) but I've wanted a shark mouth P-40 for so long that I immediately had to have it. Put me down for one on the preorder list! No doubt supporting vehicles and crew are on the horizon. :cool: The only other "one off" I'd like to have for my collection is a Japanese Zero. I wouldn't be surprised if one shows up under the FOB banner releatively soon.

Hats of to K&C this does look very good . Well done

Well it was a nice pic and dissapeared before I finished the post!!!! What happened there Rob??
Mitch

Well that interesting Rob as that photo show it with three guns in each wing but the k&C one as two in each wing sticking out ?

The KC P-40 is the B version with 2 .50 caliber Mg's mounted over the engine and 2 .30 caliber guns in each wing. The P-40 E version and later versions, all carried 3 .50 caliber guns in each wing. The British B version carried .303's in the wings. -- Al

Really?? My mates going to be well annoyed as he has just ordered one. If they are wrong I hope they rectify this. You just cannot make this stuff up!!!

Thing is Mitch I never know if you are meant to copy pics from someone elses site, isn't it copyright issue?

Neil, one with more mg's is probably the P40B , whilst the other is probably the first Mk.

The KC version is correct for the time and place B version.
